Main Points: In one sentence, summarize the main point of each chapter. Chapter 9: This chapter talks about how God and the Samaritan woman met. John 4 speaks of this historical event. Chapter 10: This chapter talks about how Worship is not an activity that believers should be limited to a specific place, time, and manner. Chapter 11: This chapter talks about how Jesus refers to God as Father. Chapter 12: In this chapter, he talks about worshiping God in spirit and truth. Reflection on the Reading: Chapter 9: This chapter talks about how God and the Samaritan woman met. For many, it was very daring because Samaritans and Jews did not live together. John 4 speaks of this historical event. God had a purpose for that woman and to teach the people. Although there was some hatred towards the people of Samaria, God teaches us that he came to give eternal life to everyone who believes in him (John 3:15 NIV - - bible gateway). Chapter 10: We as believers should not wait to go to the temple to worship God; 1 Corinthians 6:19 "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? not yours;" as we are temples of the Holy Spirit we can worship God wherever we are, whether walking on the campus of our universities, running in the park, on our knees in our rooms, at work, at a family picnic, in short. In all places, he listens to us because He is Omnipresent. Chapter 11: There are two references that Jesus tells us we should worship the Father. "Woman," Jesus answered, "believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on

this mountain nor in Jerusalem" (John 4:21 NIV - - bible gateway); "But the hour is coming and has already arrived. It will come when true worshipers worship the Father in Spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers that the Father seeks" (John 4:23 -NIV bible gateway). We can see that Jesus teaches us that God is a father. We must worship the Father as the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, almighty, holy lamb and our spiritual Father. To have a relationship of Father and Son, we must seek him in the spiritual. Chapter 12: In spirit, it means what is in our hearts, feelings, and subjective nature. In truth, it means how we judge, our cognitive part, intellect, and discipline (DR. Vernon Whaley, Why Study Music and Worship). Many worships God because they know who he is but do not do it from the heart. Matthew 23:27-28 says, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which on the outside look beautiful, but on the inside, they are full of the bones of the dead and all filth. In the same way, on the outside, you are righteous in the eyes of the people, but on the inside, you are full of hypocrisy and evil. Prompt/Paragraph 1: Did you agree or disagree with the author’s position? Explain why or why not. I agree with the author's explanation of each chapter. Learning that we worship God not only for what he is but that we must worship him with all our lives and feelings is essential in a life consecrated to the Father. Prompt/Paragraph 2: What principles of worship did God teach you through this reading? We must worship with all our lives and feelings. Not only that, we must also be transparent when worshiping the Father.
Prompt/Paragraph 3: What actions do you believe God would have you take to apply these principles to your public and private worship? God should not do anything; on the contrary, I must take action and return to the first love, which is Him.
