IV: Type of word Levels: original, related, unrelated DV: percent recognized 3. What was our experimental hypothesis? There will be a high percent recognition for original and related type of words than unrelated words. 4. What type of statistical analysis would you use to analyze this data? Why? You would use a 1-way ANOVA because there are more than 2 levels to be analyzed. 5. What is the difference between the related and the unrelated lures? Related lures are words that are similar to the original word whereas unrelated lures are random words that aren’t similar at all. 6. What trends in your results would support the notion of false memory? Do your results support false memory? Explain your reasoning. Trends of high percentage for the original words and related words would support the notion of false memory. Yes my results support false memory because it had a high percentage for the original words. Although my percentage for related lures was not as high, it supports the general trend of being high. 7. Do you think that there are any ways that we can help protect ourselves from false memories? Unless we come up with a better way to remember things, I don’t think so.
