2 PSY 108 Project Two: Behavior Change Blueprint Part 1. Set a Goal My goal is going to be to lose 25 pounds in the next six months. Part 2: Apply Self-Assessments Coping Strengths IIn taking the test of finding out how well we scored on the proactive coping scale I scored rather high. I believe that this will be beneficial when it comes to completing my goal of losing weight. This will be helpful because I will understand more on what I need to do when it comes to completing a diet, how to exercise successfully, and knowing how to find the resources that will be beneficial. However, when it came to the topic of avoidance coping I scored on the lower side and I could work to improve that. find myself being very impulsive when it comes to decisions on pretty much anything and I find that to be my biggest issues when it comes to completing most goals. I also find myself being a massive overthinker and find it very important to make set plans when it comes to everything being discussed. I think improving these two things would allow for me to complete my goal of losing the weight because if I controlled the impulsiveness I could have more self-control when it comes to the food that I consume. I feel this is the biggest reason I have such a hard time in losing weight. Grit On the grit assessment I score a 33/50 which put me in the 30% passed on the scale that was given. I believe that I am very passionate when it comes to trying to complete short term or long term goals. I think that the numbers given were not accurate and I could use even more improvement. I want to have the control to overcome whatever challenges that present themselves in keeping me from reaching the goals that I set for myself. I also want to work on keeping the perseverance alive when it comes to finishing and working on these goals. I know that I have issues that will come up and I do not want to be where I am now that keep me from wanting to finish my goals. I want to start using the grit I have to accomplish my smaller goals and setting myself up for success with my end goal. For example, I could see a dietician that could help me create a meal plan that will play an essential role in weight loss. Personality Traits I think that the personality traits I have that will help me achieve the goals I set for myself would be my conscientiousness and extroversion. These could be very beneficial in working towards the accomplishment of a goal. I say that conscientiousness would be beneficial in completing a goal because I enjoy having a routine and keeping things very similar from a day to day basis. If I am given a gym routine and a meal plan to follow in creating that routine I would be able to work on my goal successfully and see the most positive outcome because of it. The extroversion would allow for me to work on my goal by becoming more social and find someone, maybe a gym buddy, that is on the same goal path and we could work together to reach our goals together. These traits will be beneficial because they allow me to learn some behaviors that are not

4 working and find ways to fix them and work towards the end goal which is the most important. I can speak with someone and get the encouragement and be filled with determination to complete the goal. A trait that I was lower in was the emotional stability section. I want to work on that because when my emotions are not in sync I will not be able to complete my goal successfully. Part 3: Integrate Concepts How I Can Use My Strengths to Overcome My Weaknesses I scored rather low in the emotional stability section,however, when it came to emotional seeking was a rather high score for me. When it comes to emotions I believe these will help me succeed at my goal. I think this is because I am able to seek help if I need it instead of staying to myself and struggling on my own. Another one for me was preventive coping and I think this will help me overcome struggle because I love scheduling and having a plan and knowing what it is i'm going to do for the goal. I can use my strengths of planning and reaching out for help to reach my goal and get the successful result.
