The two cultural perspectives I focus on are personal space and respect for authority figures. Explain anything that was surprising or new to you as you did your research on your chosen perspectives. Something interesting I found on cultural perspectives of personal space is that different cultures and countries find it disrespectful if you stand too close or too far away from them. For example, in Romania, strangers are supposed to keep their distance, but friends are allowed to be closer. Something interesting I found on cultural perspectives of respect for authority figures is that in India if you are a guest at a dinner, you should eat with your right hand because it shows respect for the host. Explain how the two cultural perspectives you chose will influence your approach to behavioral guidance. I will use these two cultural perspectives to show students that not everyone has the same culture or beliefs. By using the examples I named above, I will explain to my students that they are to respect their peers and their differences. There is nothing wrong with having different beliefs or cultures, and that is one of the main goals I wish to show my students. Explain why it is important to understand cultural perspectives in reference to your own cultural awareness. I must understand cultural perspectives so I can teach my students about them. If I know nothing about them, there is no way I can teach others to be respectful when it comes to the topic. Another reason I must know cultural perspectives is so I can understand the students that are culturally different than I am. This will help me create the best learning path for all of my students.
