LEARNING STYLES ACTIVITY PART ONE An activity that will encompass all three learning styles: Describe the activity: The activity will be one to learn about money and how money works. Working in small groups, they will discuss and act out scenarios with the money. There is a visual that labels and describes the different types of money and a physical representation of the money for the students to pass back and forth. How specifically does the activity address visual learners? The activity addresses visual learners in both the visual provided with labels as well as the physical money. How specifically does the activity address auditory learners? Auditory learners are addressed in this activity through the small group discussion and roleplay conversations with the money. How specifically does the activity address kinesthetic/tactile learners? Students needing tactile learning are addressed through the physical representation of the money and through the role-playing aspect with the scenarios.
PART TWO Now, you will need to complete a learning styles inventory. 1. What results did you get? Do you agree or disagree with them? Why? My results were 30% auditory. 35% visual, and 35% tactile. This makes sense to me because I’ve never really had a hard time learning things no matter what way they were presented. 2. Why do you think it is important for teachers to understand their students’ learning preferences? Teachers need to understand their student’s learning styles because they may not be teaching everyone. A successful teacher can teach the full class and present the information in ways that can be understood by everyone. This makes sure success is possible for all students. 3. What did you learn from creating your own activities that address the major learning styles? I do this quite frequently in the classroom I work in, so I already knew how to make the activities. What I did learn was about my own learning styles.
