Interviews with the Experts: Assignment Sheet The Interviews with the Experts Videos are intended to extend your understanding of the material in the textbook by giving you a behind-the-scenes look at aspects of personality and its application by some of the leaders in the field. There are no right or wrong answers, but your grade will be based on the nature, quality, and relevance of your responses. 1. Imagine that you are writing a brief description of this video for people who are considering watching it. How would you characterize or summarize it (in 50-75 words). Dr. Kohn follows B.F. Skinner. He also considers himself a behaviorist overall. He focuses more on external behavior of B. F. Skinner and Albert Bandura’s research/theories. Dr. Kohn also believes that behavior is a human construct. He talks about how he met Dr. Edward Wilson who believes that genetics played an influence on our behaviors. 2. Identify any three “take-aways” that you got from this video. These could be any points that it made, thoughts that it sparked, or issues or applications that it discussed. Take-Away #1: Dr. Kohn mentions Skinner and that his approach was that our personality is affected by our behavior Take-Away #2: Dr. Kohn notes he is a cognitive psychologist Take-Away #3: Theories do not fit every details as theories are human constructs 3. What I liked Least (or would like to have heard more about): I wished he talked more about Wilson. He did not go into any further detail about his interactions
