Park, R., & Jang, S. J. (2017). Family role overload’s relationship with stress and satisfaction . Journal of Managerial Psychology , 32(1), 61-74. https://doi.org/10.1108/JMP-01-2016-0020 This study has two purposes: one is to study the relationship stress plays on the role of the family and the satisfaction of the job, and the second is to study the relationship between an individual's job load and family load and the ability to perform their job. This study showed that stress can intervene between the family and job satisfaction, and it also showed that employees who are more involved in their jobs and have higher workloads show higher levels of stress in both their jobs and families. Having more family duties has also been shown to have an impact on job performance and have less job satisfaction and more stress. This article helps support the proposed study in that it shows evidence that stress can affect both the job and the family equally and that there can be a great correlation between the two and stress. The main limitation of this study is that it was only performed in a single population (an insurance company) and therefore the results might be harder to generalize. Nevertheless, this article seems to be current and has the appropriate qualitative method needed for the Humanistic school of thought to rely on. Dong, F., Huang, W., Chu, C., Lv, L., & Zhang, M. (2023). Influence of workplace stress and social support on humanistic caring ability in Chinese nurses. Nursing Open, 10(6), 3603-3612. https://doi.org/10.1002/nop2.1606 The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between work-related stress among nurses and their ability to offer humanistic care. This study showed that there was a relationship between the two. Stress can affect the humanistic care a nurse provides to a patient. Stress was found to be not only an influence on the care provided but also a predictor. This study showed
also that the quality of life of the individual determined the humanistic care provided. If their quality of life was great, the care was better and if the quality of life was poor, the care was less. The study supports the proposed study in that it shows that stress can affect your job performance, and depending on the quality of life you lead, it can determine your performance and stress. The main limitation of this study was the population. Even though it was performed in different hospitals, it was only limited to nurses. This article seems to be current and has the necessary qualitative methods for the Humanistic school of thought to rely on and it highlights the importance of seeing individuals holistically. Baer, R. A. , Carmody, J., & Hunsinger, M.(2022). Weekly change in Mindfulness and Perceived Stress in a Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program. Journal of Clinical Psychology, 68 (7) , 755-765, doi: 10.1002/jclp.21865. This article helps support the proposed study in that it shows that mindfulness can affect stress. This study shows that improving mindfulness skills can help intervene in certain effects stress might cause mental health outcomes. The weakness of this study is that it did not compare stress reduction interventions. Nevertheless, this article is relevant to the topic and current, also the research has qualitative methods for the Humanistic school of thought to rely on and it highlights the importance of humans being seen holistically. Dryden, W. &. Still, Arthur (2006). Historical aspects of mindfulness and self-acceptance in Psychotherapy. Journal of Rational-Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Therapy,24 (1 ), 3-28, koi: 10.1007/s10942-006-0026-1.

This article is not so relevant, in fact, it is a little old, but it has proven to be appropriate for my paper and the use of the Humanistic approach to my chosen topic. This article supports the argument of the Humanistic approach and links it to my topic because it shows how mindfulness is an important part of this topic. This study brings together humanistic psychology and mindfulness and combining these two helps people become more accepting and calm. It helps individuals deal with stressful situations and how to best manage them, and this all contributes to improving their mental health. Strandmark, M., & Rahm, G. (2014). Development, implementation and evaluation of a process to prevent and combat workplace bullying. Scandinavian Journal of Public Health, 42(15_suppl), 66-73. https://doi.org/10.1177/1403494814549494 This article discusses another type of workplace stress caused by bullying, but it treats the stress caused by bullying as the best way to help employees. This article is relevant and current, and it shows how humanistic psychology can help the workplace come together to combat stress. This article shows that applying humanistic psychology by implementing a more open atmosphere with communication and better conflict resolution methods. It also implements more group collaborations and more effective interventions. This shows how effective this school of thought can be thanks to its ability to help people reach their full potential and maximize their personal well-being. Hirst, I. S. (2013). Perspectives of Mindfulness . Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, 10 , 359-366.
This article describes mindfulness as a skill and practice which is designed to help individuals to obtain the freedom of embracing the consequences and phenomena as they reach consciousness. This article although ten years old is relevant to the proposed topic because it points out how important it is to manage our mind and what an important life skill it can be useful to protect our mental health and raise awareness of the choices in action. This article is appropriate for the humanistic approach as it can help individuals attain freedom and insight to embrace the consequences as they attain consciousness. Nilsson, H. (2018). A Four-Dimensional Model of Mindfulness and Its Implications for Health. Psychology of Religion and Spirituality, 6 (2) , 162-174, doi:10.1037/a0036067 The main purpose of this article is to bring awareness and try to involve a little more the less social and existential dimensions in mindfulness training. This article emphasizes a way to have a more broad, holistic, and altruistic approach to mindfulness practice and to encourage more research in these same fields. This article seems to be current and relevant to my chosen topic as well as supports the Humanistic approach by including a more holistic approach and helping others achieve their best selves through mindfulness and its research. Rybak, C. (2023). Nurturing Positive Mental Health: Mindfulness for Wellbeing. doi: 11302.0.1007/s10447-012-9171-7 This article discusses the importance of being aware and more in tune with your own well-being, and this can include anything, or everything, from your intellectuality to your emotions, to your physicality and spirituality. This can be achieved by being more self-aware,
according to this article, and by practicing more mindfulness, self-awareness, and self- compassion. This article helps my proposed study in that it can help people be more aware of their mental health and in return, it can contribute more towards their personal wellbeing. This article seems to be current and aligns with the Humanistic school of thought in that it helps individuals reach their full potential by seeing them as a whole. Nakahori, N., Sekine, M., Tatsuse, T., & Yamada, M. (2021). Effect modification by workplace social capital on the association between depression and workplace and family stress: The japanese civil servant study. BMC Public Health, 21(1), 726-726. https://doi.org/10.1186/s12889-021-10767-z This study focuses on the Japanese work and family balance. In this study, they explored how having a more united workplace would impact the stress of an employee and their family life. It showed that having a more united workplace would reduce the stress caused by the job and in return, have a better relation with their family. This study is current and relevant, and it also supports my proposed research topic and aligns with many of the beliefs brought by the Humanistic school of thought. Having a more inclusive, communicative, and empowering workplace, can help lessen the stress created by some of the work duties, and it can create more unity and loyalty. All of these are great goals that also happen to support the Humanistic thoughts which can help greatly in this scenario. Rybak, D. (2016). Self-Determination and the Neurology of Mindfulness. Journal of Humanistic Psychology, 46 (4) , 474-493, doi: 10.1177/0022167806290214

This article focuses on humanistic psychology and how it can change the brain. Rybak explains how mindfulness, self-actualization, and humanistic psychology, all three come together to help. He discusses how applied effectively with a stable attachment and therapy, mindfulness can change the brain by causing it to be in an awakened state, something that humanistic psychology highlights. This article also argues how important individual freedom is because mindfulness can help choose positive experiences. This article although not too current, is very relevant to my topic because it shows how self-actualization and mindfulness are interacted in the humanistic approach. This article shows how mindfulness impacts the brain and helps us reach better self-actualization.
