QUALITATIVE RESEARCH 2 Abstract The study is to ascertain if the juvenile CBT program for delinquency and recidivism is appropriate, practicable, and initially advantageous for children who interact with the court system. The objective of this case study is to evaluate administrative data in order to pinpoint factors that influence recidivism rates in Residential Alternative to Detention (RAD) and CBT programs. The administrative data report study's objective is to further our understanding of the relationship between juvenile recidivism rates in RADs and empirically supported treatments. Administrators of juvenile programs continue to determine whether to keep, change, or end the program by taking its viability, cost, and effectiveness into account. The management of companies like People's 8 Place may find it useful to read research on the relationship between adolescents' recidivism rates in RADs and cognitive-behavioral therapy treatments. It encourages detailed assessments of the effectiveness of therapies offered by juvenile offender services programs in treating mental and behavioral health concerns. A researcher might develop hypotheses outside of the report's original purpose using administrative data analysis. They can also evaluate policies, trends, and intervention strategies and examine data relevant to a protected population, such as children. keywords: recidivism, juvenile, CBT, program, RAD, case study, research
QUALITATIVE RESEARCH 3 Quantitative Research Design Type of Experimental Design (Experimental, Quasi-experimental, Correlational) Quasi-experimental Participants The case study will include both male and female participants ranging in age from 9 to 19 years old. The individuals included in this study are minors who have engaged in delinquent behavior, including both minor offenses and more serious criminal accusations. Moreover, the study encompasses a cohort including both those who have committed an offense for the first time and those with a history of repeated offenses. The study's participants include those who identify as Caucasian, African American, or Hispanic teens. The duration of participants' stays typically spans from 24 hours to an average of three weeks. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the length of stay may differ for each individual participant. Methodology The methodological changes implemented from the gap statement is the replacement of terminology like "youth risk" and "obstacles" with "juvenile disenfranchisement" and "hindrance," and "case management," to “case study”, to be more formal. There will need to be a change/implementation of a Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) that measures a broad range of behavioral and emotional problems. The child report version would work best for juveniles since parental involvement may vary, instead of an Adult Behavior Checklist (ABCL).

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH 4 Approved question: Can the recidivism rate be lowered if juveniles engaged in the legal system get mental health counseling? Data Collection To conduct the data analyses, the researcher will utilize the RAD administrative data sheet. The administrative data report will include information about participants such as their date of birth, acquired charges, county, admission date, discharge date, and physical exam date. The data will be recorded into an Excel spreadsheet. The DYRS must provide the researcher formal authorization to access the administrative data report without identifying information. The researcher will apply codes to the administrative data that reflect demographic characteristics including age, gender, and length of participation in the program. The intervention group will use data from the fiscal year 2022 administrative report, while the control group will use data from the fiscal year 2021 report. The researcher cannot use the aforementioned three levels with respect to the intervention group without first receiving written permission to do so from the DYRS. The researcher must take precautions to ensure the security of the data, since it must be stored on the owner's password-protected portable storage device. The Cronbach's Alpha of the instruments of the research design are: parent satisfaction; alpha = 0.72, substance uses and consequences; alpha of 0.87 and 0.83, respectively). Family climate with alpha of 0.84 and 0.73, respectively. Emotional dysregulation with alpha of 0.93 and 0.94, respectively. Lastly, Risk behavior with alpha of 0.70 and 0.73, respectively. An instrument that could be added to extend the research is a General Anxiety Disorder-7 scale test (GAD-7) that indicates levels of anxiety, in which juveniles may showcase during an examination.
