In at least three complete sentences write a concluding statement giving your opinion on which approach’s therapy for depression might work the best; the biological/medical model, sociocultural model or the cognitive approach. Biological/Medical Abnormal behavior is referred to as a mental illness in the biological/medical approach. Drugs ,electric shock, and surgery are all used in biological therapy . Anti-anxiety, antidepressant, lithium, and antipsychotic medicines are the most commonly prescribed medications . Shock Therapy , commonly known as electroconvulsive therapy, has been shown to be useful in treatment of depression, acute mania, and some forms of schizophrenia. Psychosurgery IN the final biological treatment. The prefrontal lobotomy, which involves the removal of the frontal lobe is the most common procedure Cognitive The cognitive method enables people to alter their approach and their perceptions of their difficulties . areguided by the cognitive restricting therapy supports clients in testing the logic of their thoughts and developing more rational ways of thinking Sociocultural The sociocultural approach examine the social and cultural factors that contribute to mental illness. Sociocultural psychologists look at mental problems in the context of larger societalstructures. Rather than focusing on the individual's internal dysfunction. It concentrates on the bigger institution and community transformation are all part of the sociocultural model therapy Concluding statement I believe that the cognitive approach to depression is the most successful. This, I believe, would be more beneficial than addressing the individual's real behavior
