2 Project Two Milestone Research Question One: Are there differences in the average agreement with homosexual individuals having the right to marry one another among people who were interviewed in different geographic regions of the United States? Write a possible corresponding research hypothesis for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. I believe there will be differences in the agreement with gay marriage across the different geographic regions in the United States. Select the appropriate inferential test for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. The appropriate inferential test for this research question would the ANOVA test since there are four sets of data. Justify your choice of inferential test for this research question, including how the scales of measurement affect this decision. Your response should be about 25 to 50 words in length. The best test inferential test for these sets of data would be an ANOVA test. This is due to the interval-ratio nature of the data provided and the data being collected in a likert- type scale. The likert scale data needs to be treated as interval-ratio because of the need to calculate the means for the ANOVA analysis, as opposed to viewing the data as ordinal data. Research Question Two: Are there differences in the average feelings of warmth toward liberals among people who were interviewed in different geographic regions of the United States? Write a possible corresponding research hypothesis for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. I believe there will be differences in feelings of warmth towards liberals across the different geographic regions of the United States. Select the appropriate inferential test for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. The appropriate inferential test for this research question would be the ANOVA test since there are 4 sets of data.
3 Justify your choice of inferential test for this research question, including how the scales of measurement affect this decision. Research Question Three: Is there a linear relationship between feelings toward liberals and beliefs regarding homosexual persons’ right to marry one another? Write a possible corresponding research hypothesis for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. I believe there will be a linear relationship between feelings towards liberals and feelings towards gay marriage. In this linear relationship there will be a positive coefficient. Select the appropriate inferential test for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. The appropriate inferential test for this research question would be a regression test. This is due to the fact a linear relationship needs to be identified to understand the significance of the linear relationship. Justify your choice of inferential test for this research question, including how the scales of measurement affect this decision. Your response should be about 25 to 50 words in length. The regression test is appropriate for this research question because the regression analysis enables researchers to determine the significance of the linear relationship between different variables. With this, a F-Test can be performed to discover the significance of the correlation. Also since the data is interval-ratio the regression test is the best fit for the research question. Research Question Four: Is there a linear relationship between feelings toward conservatives and beliefs regarding homosexual persons’ right to marry one another? Write a possible corresponding research hypothesis for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length.

4 There will be a linear relationship between feelings towards conservatives and feelings towards gay marriage. In this linear relationship there will be a negative coefficient. Select the appropriate inferential test for this research question. Your response should be about 25 words in length. The appropriate inferential test for this research question would be a regression test. This is due to the fact a linear relationship needs to be identified to understand the significance of the relationship. Justify your choice of inferential test for this research question, including how the scales of measurement affect this decision. Your response should be about 25 to 50 words in length. The regression test is appropriate for this research question because the regression analysis enables researchers to determine the significance of the linear relationship between different variables. Research question to focus on for Project Two: Are there differences in the average agreement with gay individuals having the right to marry one another among people who were interviewed in different geographic regions of the United States? Explain what personal or professional reasons you had for choosing this research question. Your response should be about 75 to 100 words in length. My reasoning for choosing the research question "Are there differences in the average agreement with gay individuals having the right to marry one another among people who were interviewed in different geographic regions of the United States?" are both personal and professional. Personally, I believe everyone deserves the right to be married regardless of sexual orientation. I believe we , as a population. care too much about the orientation of others. I understand there are religious reasonings behind most of the mentality but it is still absurd. Everyone deserves to love and to be loved regardless of sex. Professionally this is also relevant being as though I am in the Psychology field. I work with people and this will always be an issue that occurs. Being in this field it is important to have an unbiased view of others. This includes their religion, sexual orientation, class, etc. It is also because it would impact the quality of my work if I maintain a biased mindset.
5 Explain the social relevance of this topic. Include at least one scholarly source or recent review article that relates to the social relevance of the topic. Your response should be about 75 to 100 words in length. Although gay marriage is legal in all 50 states as of June 26th, 2015, it is still socially relevant. The LGBTQ community still faces discrimination due to their sexual orientation. An article published in 2020 titled "The State of the LGBTQ Community in 2020" details the many ways this community has been discriminated against. All of the statistics are important but the most alarming in my opinion are "Around 3 in 10 LGBTQ Americans faced difficulties last year accessing necessary medical care due to cost issues" and "More than 1 in 3 LGBTQ Americans faced discrimination of some kind in the past year." This goes to show this community is still facing the difficulties regardless of the advances they have made in society. President, J.
