QUESTION 1 Explain your definition of learning, and describe one learning experience you have had using observation. Learning entails acquiring and retaining new skills, behaviors, understanding, preferences, and values that influence change or growth. Methods that facilitate learning include observation, memorization, and reading. I had a learning experience using observation when I was in high school. I used to watch my uncle fix things such as cars and bikes, from which I acquired relevant skills and knowledge. Through observation, I learned how to fix several bike and car parts and helped him when he had a lot of work. I realized that by observing how things are done, a person can gain skills and abilities to accomplish the same tasks effectively. QUESTION 2 In thinking about a typical day, describe how you use each of the following types of memory: nondeclarative, episodic, and semantic. Daily, I use nondeclarative memory in various habitual activities such as getting dressed, driving my car, tying my shoes, and typing at my computer. I accomplish these tasks without thinking about them because I learned them and have become aspects of my daily routine. I use episodic memory on a typical day to remember my birthday, the moments of a previous trip, and my next meeting at the workplace. Episodic memory deals with life experiences and autobiographical because it offers records of personal experiences (Sugar & Moser, 2019). I utilize semantic memory daily to visually recognize things such as newspapers or television advertisements, and remember job skills. This memory is associated with memorized information or facts and requires conscious recall. Reference

How might interleaving improve your memory? I use methods such as reviewing previous exam material, studying with my classmates, practicing using relevant tests, revising class notes, and memorizing the taught concepts to study for my tests. Remarkably, revising class notes and practicing using different tests are approaches that seem to work most effectively for me because they helped me achieve the desired academic performance. Interleaving enhances my memory by helping me in memorization of concepts, which facilitates easy recalling and answering of exam questions. QUESTION 4 Using the principles of operant conditioning, suggest at least three strategies for reducing the significant problem in society of drug use. Operant conditioning is associated with learning focused on a person’s responses to punishment and reward in which behavior modification and concepts are studied (Ciccarelli & White, 2020). I suggest the use of positive reinforcement by praising or rewarding non-drug users to discourage them from engaging in drug abuse. Another strategy that I recommend entails punishing or applying heavy fines to drug users as a way of discouraging them from using various drugs. Moreover, offering rehabilitation services is an approach I suggest to help and counsel individuals struggling with drug abuse. Reference
