Discussion Topic Discussion Board Guidelines: Read each discussion question, response to ONE question. Your original post should be, at a minimum, 200 words. Points will be deducted for Punctuations and Grammar errors. I did not deduct points for the Class Intro, thus please spell check and word count prior to posting and responding to peers. No late discussion responses or replies will be accepted. First Quarter Discussion Board will cover Chapters 1-7 due December Chapter 1: Discusses a few different theories, theorists, and experiments. Which one resonates most with you? Which one did you identify with, and why? What was the contribution of this theory/ theorist/ experiment to the field of psychology or to our behavior? Chapter 2: In subject box, indentify which question you are answering 2a or 2b. a. Discuss which areas of the brain that are important in the ability to process understand and produce language. What are the areas called? If damaged, how does it affect you? ----OR---
b. Why are memories represented in the brain differently than sensory stimull? Give an example comparing how the brain would process a visual stimulus and a memory, and explain your reasoning. Chapter 3: In subject box, identify which question you are answering 3a or 3b. a. Please name and discuss at least one thing that impacts our perceptions. -OR- b. Describe at least one theory, principle, or effect described in chapter 3 and indicate how this may impact us in real life. Chapter 4: In subject box, indentify which question you are answering 4a or 4b. a. This is filled with theories and experiments related to paying attention and/or getting distracted. Take this short test of attention that can be found at Attention Span Test (psychologytoday.com). What do your results show? How does that apply to the information on attention from chapter 4? Chapter 6/7: Throughout the chapters there are multiple examples given of persons who have suffered various memory losses. Choose a type of memory (e.g., autobiographical, procedural) and talk about the possible ramifications of losing that type of memory. How could it impact the lives of the person who has lost this type of memory? Please make sure to include some facts from the chapter to support your opinions.
