Name: Period: I HXNOAV\RIREDING.2ED) 3RS I (G RINY I Cluster B disorders are accompanied by an erratic behavior that is seen as highly impulsive, overly dramatic, promiscuous, or law-defying. Antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, and narcissistic personality disorder are categorized under Cluster B. Antisocial personality disorder usually first shows itself during childhood as a person exhibits a lack of empathy for others and animals and a disregard for rules. Individuals with ASPD often exhibit behaviors where they lie, act aggressively, engage in violence, and break the law. They tend to act impulsively and do not conform to societal norms. People with diagnosed borderline personality disorder have unstable emotional behaviors and a hard time maintaining relationships. They also may have risky and impulsive moments like going on expensive shopping sprees or drinking excessively. They tend to have sudden mood shifts from being just fine to being extremely sad or angry. They fear being abandoned by people they love, which causes distrust and conflicts with those they love. When stressed, some have paranoid thoughts that others will harm them or feel like they are not in their bodies. BPD is treatable with psychotherapy and medication. Histrionic disorder is sometimes seen among people who have borderline personality disorder, narcissism, or dependent personality disorder. To be diagnosed with this, one must show at least five symptoms from a list that includes having discomfort when one is not the center of attention, having inappropriate provocative behavior, switching emotions rapidly, easily influenced by others, exaggerated emotions, thinking relationships are more intimate than they are, and using their appearance to draw attention to themselves. A Narcissistic personality disorder involves one having an exaggerated self- image, a lack of empathy for others, and being extremely self-centered. They also may be preoccupied with fantasies of success or brilliance and think that they are “special” and that not everyone will get them.
