For instance, within the first ten minutes the film, it displays Rannulph Junuh as a skillful golfer whose performance has been deterred as result of trauma emanating from World War I. While in a state of self-doubt and desperation, coach Bagger Vance motivates Rannulph to rejuvenate his long-lost hope as a golfer. However, having realized the mental barriers Junuh is undergoing, Bagger uses visualization and mindfulness as psychological techniques to help him manage and overcome the barriers and tap into his full potential. In what may be called behavioral therapy, Bagger starts to teach and mentor Junuh to develop a positive mindset, self-discovery, and willingness to achieve the best in golf.
