PSY 211 Module One Milestone Template In the Module One Milestone Guidelines and Rubric, review the Overview and Prompt sections. Then answer each of the following questions with a minimum of 3 to 5 sentences. Support your answers with credible sources when appropriate. Complete this template by replacing the bracketed text with the relevant information. Compare the psychological factors that have influenced both April’s and Judi’s development. o Consider their cognitive and affective factors in your response. Psychological factors for April are that is was raised in a warm and loving home. Her adoptive parents were very supportive of her and gave her reinforcement throughout her life. The psychological factors for Judi are that her adoptive father was an abusive person and an alcoholic which was combined with her mother being depressed and emotionally codependent. Compare the social factors that have influenced both April’s and Judi’s development. o Consider their relational and environmental factors in your response. In April’s childhood, she had seen and been around great and functional relationships. This led her to be successful and having the ability to maintain relationships in her adult life. For Judi on the other hand growing up all she saw was how dysfunctional and abusive relationships were. That kind of lifestyle led Judi to have bad relationships and the inability to maintain relationships which led to not having gainful employment. Explain whether nature or nurture had a more significant role in April’s and Judi’s development. Support your answers with examples from the scenario. o Consider using biological, psychological, and social factors in your response. For April nurture seems to be the most prevalent. April was adopted by an amazing set of parents she had a home that was full of love and support. That love and support was then passed on to her children who became successful as well. For Judi on the other hand, nature seems to be the most prevalent. Judi’s home was not very nurturing, her adoptive family was very abusive. This is later seen with her having bad relationships and problems of her own. Which led to her children having anger and addiction problems. Explain why it is important to consider nature and nurture in combination throughout the life span when evaluating an individual’s well-being. Having nature and nurture in one’s life forms who that person is and who they will become. The less nurturing one has in life the harder it becomes for that person to have connections and an understanding of normal relationships. Nature on the other hand is the influence of what is around the person. If a person grows up in an environment that is abusive and full of addictions and that is what they see as normal they too may have the same problems. 1
