The current global political and economic situation is characterized by complex power relations and geopolitical conflicts, and while it cannot be accurately characterized as a new Cold War with either Russia or China, there are There are elements of conflict. To understand this, we can compare the Cold War era with the present. Tensions between the United States and Russia have increased since Russia's 2014 annexation of Crime and allegations of meddling in the U.S. election, but this is not a reflection of the Cold War. Unlike the Cold War, there is no ideological struggle between capitalism and communism. But there are also major differences, including increased economic interdependence and diplomacy on specific global issues such as arms control and climate change. The relationship between the United States and China is characterized by competition and conflict, but it is also not a Cold War. Unlike during the Cold War, the United States and China maintain close economic ties. Our economies are highly interdependent, and both countries benefit from trade and investment. Moreover, although there is competition in areas such as technology and regional influence, it is not based on the rigid ideological divisions of the Cold War era. Essentially, the world is not back to what it was during the Cold War.
