Leadership Philosophy 1 Darling Parada Personal Leadership Philosophy NURS -6053C-11 Interprofessional Organization & System Leadership Walden University Dr. Donnelli October 8, 2023
Leadership Philosophy 2 Introduction Healthy work environments are built on strong leadership behaviors. When an environment has a strong leadership it is reflected in the feedback of the team. Leaders develop their guide to lead by setting a philosophy which is set on their beliefs, values, and principles. Leaders share vision and goals as they reach out and relate to others to make changes, sustain organizational needs, and produce improvements (Broome & Marshall, 2021, p. 187). Core Values Core values are fundamental beliefs guiding principles for leaders and organizations to mold behavior, decisions, and interactions with others. Studies suggest that successful leadership approach was done with a basis of strong values (Pendleton & King, 2002). My personal leadership Philosophy “I believe effective communication and comprehension is important and needs to be transparent. I consistently engage in sharing visions, interchange feedback, and listen to concerns and ideas within my team. Trust, comprehension, and alignment is built on effective communication.” Personal Vision Statement “I envision a future where my communication serves as a foundation for positive transformational change. I aspire to empower, inspire, and connect with others through my words and actions. I contribute to my personal and collective growth with every interaction. I see a world where bridges are built on effective communication breaking barriers and exposing shared goals.” Personal Mission Statement “My mission is to promote and practice effective transformational communication in all areas of my life. I commit to: -Active listening and empathetically understanding others’ views. -Speaking with clarity and truthfully to convey my ideas and purpose. -Inspiring others to reach their full potential. -Ensuring that my actions and words align with ethical principles and my core values. =Building relationships based on trust, respect, and authenticity. -Embrace feedback and use it as an opportunity to grow. -Using communication to resolve conflicts, build, and achieve shared goals. With these commitments, I aim to leave an impact on others and hope to foster an environment where effective communication drives positive change, to make individuals feel connected, empowered, and empathetic through comprehension.” My Clifton strengths identifies my five dominant themes of talent which are, ideation, learner, input, responsibility. The ideation theme explains I like profound, novel, and bizarre ideas. It suggests that I am
Leadership Philosophy 3 fascinated with ideas and discovering concepts. Explaining complex phenomena and finding connections. Learner theme identifies my love for learning regardless of the subject. I enjoy the journey to competence, enjoying the process to gain new knowledge. I do this by engaging in learning activities. Positivity reflects my generous and enthusiastic nature. I look at the positive side of things and my enthusiasm is contagious. I inflict my positive energy into my surroundings, I find ways to humor challenging situations. Input theme signifies I am inquisitive, and I look to collect information or objects of things that interest me. My thirst for knowledge leads me to collect words, books, facts, experiences, and tangible items. Responsibility theme means I take psychological ownership on all my commitments. I strive to do the right thing and it makes me dependable, in contrast amend if I cannot deliver my commitment (Clifton, 2023). Strengthening Two Behaviors To further develop my personal and professional growth I’ve considered focusing on strengthening the following the behaviors. In Ideation, one of my dominant themes, I can collaborate with colleagues and analyze ideas together. With different perspectives we can come up with innovative solutions. I can strengthen my Ideas by applying them to real world situations like projects, work, and communities. Meetings can be kept small to provide space for participation with gathering ideas to brainstorm further (Paulus et al., 2018). A second Theme I can strengthen is Learner by continuing my education and sharing my knowledge. I can continue expanding my knowledge by exploring diverse learning opportunities, both formal and informal. An option I wish to explore is mission nursing and experience how nursing is needed in areas that struggle to maintain healthcare. Mentors and workshops can prepare my knowledge to be able to expand my skills. I can Teach and be a mentor as well which, reinforces my knowledge (National Academies Press (US), (2021). Development Plan Strengthening Ideation: Objective- To further develop my Ideation strength and apply it effectively in my professional and personal settings. Action: Real World application, small collaborative meetings, and encourage feedback. Example: Brainstorm with teams and provide environment to generate innovative ideas by taking turns to add a point of views or suggestions. Strengthening Learner: Objective: Enhance my learning by expanding and pursuing knowledge to share it with others. Action: Setting specific goals for the next year and enrolling in classes for training in new areas of nursing. Diverse my learning opportunities by seeking mentors with greater experience. Workshops or seminars can expand my learning in practical skills. Example: I can give presentations in my current work setting and volunteer to precept new nurses. I can develop my communication skills by offering new nurses’ knowledge I have obtained. Enrolling in classes and seeking forums to learn more about my upcoming courses.

Leadership Philosophy 4 Colleagues Feedback My colleagues feedback emphasized the importance in recognizing and maximizing one’s talents with continuous learning and anticipating future challenges. Suggestions included rewarding and recognizing performance and achievements to strengthen positive leadership behavior. Other observations mentioned in the feedback focused on time management and public speaking. Recommendations involved checklists to manage time. Practicing public speaking can guide me to become more confident and comfortable. Conclusion Overall, a leadership philosophy reflects my core values, beliefs, and principles. The philosophy guides my actions, words, and decisions. It serves as a foundation for a purposeful endeavor. The philosophy will evolve and help me encounter new challenges. I can empower and influence those around me when I embrace my leadership philosophy. It is a powerful tool for personal and professional success.
