2 The Walden Library Provide an APA citation and brief summary for each of the two peer-reviewed articles you selected from the Walden Library. The first peer-reviewed article I selected was Anxiety and depression among perinatal women during the long-term normal prevention of COVID-19 pandemic period in China: a cross-sectional study. This article focused on the study of depression and anxiety rates found in postpartum women during the COVID-19 outbreak, and currently, during the prevention COVID-19 period. The study considered the amount of knowledge an individual had about the pandemic and if they had taken any preventative action. This article found that more recently, during the prevention COVID-19 period, depression rates were slightly lower than they were reported during the pandemic outbreak period. The second peer-reviewed article I selected was The socio-demographic profile associated with perinatal depression during the COVID-19 era. This study focused on how COVID-19 negatively impacted mothers and their babies before and after delivery. The study included various factors that may contribute to increased depressive symptoms including the mother living with the child’s father, the mother having stable employment and housing, and the mother having lost a loved one to COVID-19. The study showed that COVID-19 had a negative impact on the environment, but also on mental health and that depression was increased in perinatal women. Explain two ways that you evaluated the two articles you downloaded to ensure the information within them is, in fact, reliable and accurate.

3 The first way I evaluated factuality, reliability and accuracy of the articles was by ensuring they are peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, the two articles were similar, which helped me in comparing some of the content to one another. By comparing the articles, I was able to verify some credibility of the information included. Finally, I verified the publisher and author by researching other peer-reviewed journals they have published. This allowed me to understand how reliable the authors and publishers were. Explain how you know that the two articles you downloaded are, in fact, from peer-reviewed journals. Walden University (2009), states that peer reviewed articles are processed in journals only, not books or dissertations. While looking for articles in the Walden library, I utilized useful tools to filter the results. I was able to filter the results to only show peer reviewed scholarly articles. Once filtering the results, I also only reviewed the academic journals. Another way I was able to verify that my two articles were peer-reviewed through Ulrich’s: Verify Peer Review (Walden University, 2009). This tool allowed me to search the journals in which the articles were published, to determine if they were peer- reviewed, in which they were. Write a paragraph explaining the importance, to a scholar-practitioner, of peer review of scholarly journals. Utilizing peer review is imperative to a scholar-practitioner. First, by using peer- reviewed articles, we are practicing as scholars to conduct appropriate research while in the profession. Using peer review will allow scholar-practitioners to improve writing and researching skills and challenge us to ensure information is accurate and reliable.

4 Finally, peer review allows scholar-practitioners to assess feedback and utilize evidence-based practice while working to become professionals. Include in your explanation the importance of peer-reviewed articles to a scholar- practitioner in your area(s) of interest. My area of interest is psychology. The study of psychology consists of researching behaviors and patterns an individual may experience. Studying and practicing psychology requires intense research to diagnose the client accurately. Utilizing peer-reviewed articles will ensure research is factual and suitable.
