Module 2: Project Proposal

RESUBMITTED
I chose the National Association of Social Workers professional code of ethics. This code of ethics was interesting for me to learn what is expected of them compared to what I have experienced with professionals in this field.
The NASW code of ethics identifies core values and supports decisions in this context through critical thinking and applying the principle of social justice, which is to “pursue the social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals or groups of people” with the ethical standard of compassion to reasoning in the decision making process (National Association of Social Workers). The NASW, founded in 1955 when several collaborating organizations came together as one, published the first edition in 1960 recognizing fourteen responsibilities with the primary focus on client issues of poverty, unemployment, and alcohol (National Association of Social Workers).
The NASW specifically states they do not rate their principles and there is no principle with greater importance over another. All principles are regarded as equally important. The NASW realizes differences in opinions and contexts of ethical issues will arise and leave it up to the individual, agency, or organization for practical use of its guide as the primary source in ethical decision making (National Association of Social Workers). Leaving it up to me, and in the context of scenario one, the principle
of social justice would be the most important.
All five of the ethical frameworks described in Model One Guide include at least one of the principles of the NASW. According to the Module One Guide, the justice framework could fit in the context of scenario one. The justice framework works when the concern in a situation is fairness, whether everyone is getting what they deserve. Issues involving justice can occur when different groups have different
ideas about how people are treated in social groups and situations in negative or positive ways, also referred to benefits and burdens. The justice framework requires analyzing the criteria used to determine what is just and fair in a situation.

And there you go! Perfect!! I hope you can see the difference with the way
that unoriginal material is used, and the focus on material in the course. When it comes to critical thinking, this is excellent.
Hi Colleen - Can you see that your turnitn score is unchanged? This was the point of the revision, so I'm afraid I need to ask you to do this again to learn how to bring down a turnitin score. There is a whole sentence from NASW that's not in quotes. A later part is in quotes, so that's just a matter of putting the quotes in the right place.
I've understood the main issue. You're relying heavily on material from the
Markkula Center, and you've got a lot of that quoted directly without quotation marks. That's really what's driving up the score. Again, that's just
formatting. Because you're using bullets, it's not clear that you're quoting. If you put all that in a paragraph with wider margins than the rest of the paper (or put it all in quotes), that would indicate to the reader that you didn't write those words.
Honestly, this is a case where material from outside the course is leading you astray. Even before I saw that this material is unoriginal, I had trouble understanding why it was there or which element of the assignment it addresses. I know you're very diligent with seeking all the information you
can find! As a rule, though, your assignments should stay focused on the assigned material and your own thinking about how to understand and apply it.
This looks so promising, Colleen, but I'm afraid I can't give you credit with
this much unoriginal material that's not in quotation marks. There's a long passage in the middle, particularly, that's from a free essay site.
Take a look at the turnitin report. If you're unsure how to do that, or how to
read it, see the "Start Here" link on the Learning Modules page.
You can revise and resubmit for full credit! Just make sure all material not written by you is in quotation marks, with citations (noting that free essay sites are not acceptable source material - and usually they lead you astray anyway, as they do here!)
Don't hesitate to drop me an email if I can help clarify. (When you revise, give each numbered part of the assignment its own paragraph, in order, and
put references in APA format - see the Shapiro Library link at the top of
the course.)
