DQ1
The Christian worldview provides an explanation for human nature and the story of the
creation and fall (Gen. 1-3). A great deal of the suffering that people experience and much
of man's inhumanity to man are explained by this description of the fall of human nature.
Is this characterization of human nature accurate? Why or why not? If not, what is an
alternative explanation?
Class,
I believe that the Christian Worldview’s explanation of human nature and the fall sounds like an
accurate characterization. I think that the explanation of the fall can be applied to more than just
the Christians. I believe that anyone who tries to take someone else’s position without trying to
get to know them and going against what the person of authority says, should be punished for
their actions. The Christians believe that you should not try to be God, but you should walk the
path laid out by him instead. Adam and Eve thought that they should be as powerful as God and
wanted to be all knowing and experience good and evil, they did not realize that they had already
experienced good by being created by God. This temptation and desire to experience the
unknown, caused the fall of humanity and they had to suffer the consequences for their actions. I
think that the fall was necessary to teach mankind that there are consequences, if evil or
wrongdoing is done.
DQ2
How does the fall relate to tragedies like 9/11 and disasters such as the Tsunami of 2004?
Explain how your reaction to evil events has caused you to reassess your worldview.
Class,
I believe that the fall relates to the tragedy of 9/11 because a group of people where tempted
and talked into an evil act that they assumed would lead to more power for their people. The
disaster of the Tsunami in 2004 was a natural disaster and unfortunately natural disasters happen
too often. The way that the Tsunami would relate to the fall is the rebuild and reassessment of the
survivor’s lives and beliefs.
The way 9/11 made me reassess my worldview was that it made me rethink my purpose and I
look at life differently now than I did before. I try to not take things for granted and appreciate
life much more. I try to spread positivity and inspire people. I feel that 9/11 was a major tragedy
and warrants everyone to reassess their worldviews.
