Ronald, You did an excellent job on the discussion post this week. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your perspective and insight into the unapparelled leadership ability of Jesus Christ. I agree that Jesus Christ by any assertion is the greatest-known leader to mankind in both biblical and modern times (Legg, 2020). Jesus had a remarkable leadership style that emphasized the importance of his strong personal commitment to faith as the foundation for his effective leadership (Mohler, 2014). His commitment to his faith and God shaped his leadership style by creating a worldview that was pure and steeped in the convictions held within his faith. His convictions and leadership style were so prominent that many of the great leaders who followed him have adopted his worldview as a guideline to navigate their leadership styles. The leadership style of Jesus Christ that urged humility and service could best be described by current definitions of leadership in the servant leadership model (Giblin, 2017). This leadership style much like my example of Ronald Reagan as a great leader, prized the input and opinions of everyone while still adhering to strong moral principles that seek the greater good of the group while remaining within a strict value system, shaped by ethical guidelines (Hankins, 2019). Jesus, who would ultimately sacrifice himself to ensure the success of humanity showed that he was a selfless leader with a deep humility and loyalty to his people and God (Legg, 2020). Servant leadership is important to God as scripture emphasizes in (Mark 10:45) which states “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many” (Nelson, 2018) It is interesting that while looking at many examples of great leadership, there is a fundamental need for the qualities, characteristics, and ethical considerations that are offered within the Christian worldview created by the ultimate leader in Jesus Christ (Du Plessis & Nkambule, 2020). Although there have been none to match him, the best leaders known to man have shared many of the leadership qualities that he left as an example. For that reason, it is evident that the strongest leadership quality that one can possess is the ability to lead by example, as Jesus Christ did. Scripture outlines great leadership in (1 Peter 5: 2-3) which states “Shepherd the flock of God, which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those who entrusted you, but being examples to the flock” (Nelson, 2018). This verse shows that the best leaders serve willingly without pursuing personal gain, to be an example to those they lead (Du Plessis & Nkambule, 2020). This type of leadership creates cohesiveness and productivity that benefits all involved. This is because true leadership comes from those who teach others to be successful and lead themselves.
