In the table provided below, you will complete your reflection and synthesis responses for this week. Be sure to complete each Response section. When referencing scripture or other materials, only include a brief or abbreviated summary along with the citation as these cannot be included in the required word count. When you have completed the document, save it to your computer and follow the instructions in your course to submit the assignment to your instructor.

Article of Faith
Please identify the Article of Faith studied this week
Response: The Articles of Faith this week were 11 and 12 and they state, "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."
"We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law."
3.

Demonstrate your comprehension of fundamental truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and your ability to use the scriptures to teach them. Be sure to include specific scripture references from the assigned readings
Scenario: Imagine you have been asked by a family member or friend to share what you believe about the truths and events you studied this week. Share in your own words several
insights as though you are really trying to teach someone. Include at least three scripture references to support the truths you teach (you may reference them, but there is no need to quote them). Share your testimony as you would when teaching someone. Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria:

200–300 words in length
(please include your word count at the bottom of the section).
2.
Include at least 3 scripture references
.
Response: This week I got to study two Articles of faith rather than one and it was very interesting because they both taught about topics I don’t really hear discussed a lot in the church. I think that is because the teaching they teach are just widely understood by members in the church, but they taught that "We claim the
privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."
And "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." And these teaching were really good for me to review because I honestly forgot they were part of the Articles of Faith. So, in this week’s readings I really like the article titled "Why Religious Freedom Matters to Latter-day Saints" because it really helped highlight the struggles our faith has gone through and how we try to extend kindness
to other religions. One of my favorite parts of the article was when it said
"[Latter-day Saints] cherish religious freedom by virtue of both their history and their faith. … [Latter-day Saints] want to see these freedoms preserved and protected for all. … It is the responsibility of all people of faith and conscience to understand and to advance this fundamental human freedom for themselves and their neighbors" I think this is very important to remember and when we act this way towards others we are following in the steps of our Savior.
As Saints we want to invite the spirit in every aspect of our lives, especially when it comes to voting
or supporting government officials. As said in the Gospel topic section titled citizenship it says,
"As members of the Church prayerfully study the issues and decisions facing today's communities and nations, they will be able to discern and understand how to apply eternal principles to issues being debated by politicians and public officials". I think it’s very important to pick government officials that have values that align with our beliefs. I also think it’s important for us as members to be active in our communities and try to be a good example for others. In D&C 98 verse 10 it speaks about how honest and wise men should be sought for diligently. I think this mean we need to ick good honest leaders as well as strive to be a good and honest leader.
I hope that one day I can be a good honest leader and help support the church’s vales even if I just show it by being a good neighbor, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen. Word Count:454 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences
of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
materialism
natural disasters
pornography
unemployment
poverty
racial strife/hatred
religious intolerance/persecution
threats to religious liberty
same-sex marriage
suicide
Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about
the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know.
Write a response in at least 300-450 words
and list your word count at the end of your response.
5.
The world problem/issue I chose this week is:
Threats to religious liberty.
Response: Many people worry about threats to religious liberty, but I think there are ways to lessen this fear and be more confident in our government officials being accepting. In the 11
th
and 12
th
Articles of Faith it discusses how we as members believe in religious freedom and following our government officials and other
leaders in our communities and churches. I think that these Articles in Faith are really important and do help

us in lessening our fears about religious freedom. If we follow the churches commandments and pick leaders
which align with our values we can be more confident that our right will be upheld and that we can continue to practice our faith and help others practice their own faith. I also believe that by being lawful citizens we can correctly represent our church and help others see that we are valuable members of the community, and we strive to be like our Savior. By following our leader’s advice in political problems, we may even be able to make decisions that hopefully the Lord would make. For example, in my YSA ward back home they asked that members of the church please vote against the legalization of marijuana in our state because that was the revelation they received. So, members probably differ but the whole agreed and even though it still was legalized I am proud to say we tried to fight it and that even though it went through we respected the lawmaker’s decisions and did not protest or be hateful. And I think that is what the Savior would do which is
what we should always try to do, we should strive to be like the Savior. I hope that these words help you and
