1.
200–300 words in length
(please include your word count at the bottom of the section).
2.
Include at least 3 scripture references
.
Response: I would like to share with a friend the important principle of revelation. Revelation, gospel speaking, is a
communication directly from God confirming specific principle, questions or teaching that God would like to
communicate to his children here on earth. For this reason, he always called prophets here on earth as explain in the
famous scripture in Amos 3:7. To the prophets God reveals doctrines and teachings useful for all the world, members
and not members but for each one of us, we can receive personal revelations as explained in Moroni 10:4-5. We can
ask directly to God without asking to someone else or the need to trust in someone else words. As children of God,
we have the privilege and blessing to be able to talk directly to God through prayers. The important thing to
understand and remember is that God talks in His own way and in His own time. So, when we ask something to God
in prayer, we are called to listen carefully the voice of the Spirit to touch our hearts to understand better His answers
for us. We can read this principle in D&C 88:63–68 and understand that if the answer is positive our hearts will burn
positively for our happiness but if the answer is negative, we will have different feelings that would not confirm us
the truth of that specific question. The final invitation is asking God all the times for His direction and He would be
really glad to guide us and direct us.
Word Count: 254 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences
of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
materialism
natural disasters
pornography
unemployment
poverty
racial strife/hatred
religious intolerance/persecution
threats to religious liberty
same-sex marriage
suicide
Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about
the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know.
Write a response in at least 300-450 words
and list your word count at the end of your response.
5.
The world problem/issue I chose this week is:
Materialism.
Response: Dear friend, this week I would to talk with you regarding a big issue that is really popular in the world today:
Materialism. Unfortunately, in the world today, it is really important to gain more and more material and worldly
success, completely forgetting that everything we have in our lives is coming from Our Heavenly Father that gave us
life and the opportunity to grow here on earth. But growing here on earth does not mean to focus only on the
material side of our progress, but mostly keep our spirits in tune with the teaching and principles of the true gospel.
For this reason, it is really important to keep a personal connection directly with Our Heavenly Father through our
personal prayers and scripture study. By personal and family prayers we learn to talk the same language Our
Heavenly Father speaks to us. In this way we are more protected and guided toward the real eternal happiness, that
comes only by living the gospel in our lives and sharing this happiness with other. The opportunity to receive
personal revelations for ourselves and for our families, it is giving us the security that the spirit will always testify of
the truth and guide us back home safe to Our Heavenly Father presence. Once we learn how to pray and receive
personal revelation for ourselves, the next step is to ask to God similar questions like the prophet Joseph Smith,
asking directly to God really important question regarding His eternal gospel. If we are really sincere and looking for
sacred answers directly from Our Heavenly Father, He will reveal in our heart the truths that have been lost for
centuries, until the restoration of the true and only gospel of Jesus Christ. Once we will receive our personal
testimony that the restoration of the gospel through the prophet Joseph Smith is true, we will be able to ask further
question about modern revelation through living prophet on earth today and we will receive confirmation that we
have living prophets and apostles on earth today. I am so grateful for such precious knowledge because it is making
me feel so much safer and loved from Our Heavenly Father, knowing that He is still guiding and administering His
church and gospel in the same way He did, He does and He will do, until we will see Him again together with all our
eternal families. Word Count: 402
