Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Catherine Hoffman and Matt Stevens both argue for gay marriage, but interestingly enough, they argue it in two very different ways. Their appeals are both similar in the sense that ethos is used, while they are contrasted through the way they present their ethos and what point of view they argue from. The primary method used for both posts would be an argument. Clearly Catherine and Matt have the same views, they just express them with different wording and thoughts. Catherines post reads "Alright, last rainbow–infested post from me. It's not "gay marriage ". It's just marriage. If you're offended by that fact, feel free to unfriend me. If you're offended by anything I post, you don't have to send me a message trying to get me to fear God. You can simply unfriend me and remove yourself from my sinful life, okie dokie? Cool. Go rainbows and gay stuff. Woo. #LoveWins #Equality". The first phrase she uses to draw the reader in is 'Rainbow–Infested." This is indicating that the post is involving the LGBT+ community. Once she introduces her post with the rainbow–infested line, she goes on to talk about gay marriage. She states that she stands for the community and that anyone who is offended, can unfriend her and remove themselves from her "sinful" life. The word offended is used multiple times, specifying that people have and will continue to feel that way. Matt's post reads a bit differently, "The solution lies in the government calling it marriage. A marriage is a religious Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Gay marriage is a topic that is so often discussed by those with highly diverse opinions. As some people agree with those of the same sex pursuing marriage, others do not seem to feel the same way. This fact can apply to individuals as well as entire countries. Several of these individuals and countries originally agreed with the subject of gay marriage as others were required to be forced due to the fact that their ban on gay marriage was decided as unconstitutional. Same–sex marriage is a controversial issue in today's world where some choose to agree with the decision of homosexual people and some choose to oppose it, all doing so usually for different reasons. Many different places have many different views on the belief that gay marriage is either right or wrong. In America, at least 37 states and D.C allow same–sex marriage to take place (NCSL). Within these states, some were originally okay ...show more content... These individuals, groups, organizations, etc. attempt to reject this idea by finding ways to make it seem as though the government has contradicted itself. For example, they bring up the point that marriage is a covenant between a man and a man, not a woman and a woman or a man and a woman. Through this argument they are trying to make the point that when the government allows gay marriage to take place they are destructing a moral that has been set in place. Another way they try to go against the idea of same–sex marriage is by using religion. One of the most frequent arguments given for this situation is that "it will offend God." When the people who disagree use this argument, the goal is to hit a personal spot in someone's life in order to make them believe what they are doing or supporting is wrong. When those who oppose the situation take it to a personal level it is thought that it will have more of an impact on the argument that is being Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Gay Marriage Persuasive Essay Sometimes I don't know whether to kick the Supreme Court or kiss it. As America seemingly turns to the left, albeit by judicial fiat, the Right will have its revenge in 2016 via the legitimate voice of the people, the ballot box. This is where real change happens. A few black robed tyrants in narrow decisions on Obamacare and "Gay Marriage" may impose their will on the American people for a spell, but we the people still have the ultimate check on a court run amok and now have a rallying cry to overturn these political/judicial decisions. Such revolutionary change to our fundamental values should never be made by the courts, instead the people through our representative government should resolve these controversial issues. By giving ...show more content... Folks who talk about the benefits of the traditional family or hold to Judeo–Christian values are already accused of being homophobic by the "thought police. "Your free speech will be gagged. Where ever gay "marriage" has been promoted , mandatory homosexual curriculum has been introduced in the schools. Your tax dollars and businesses are forced to fund homosexual relationships. And now if you question same–sex marriage you could face discipline, termination of employment or even prosecution. In his dissent, Justice Alito said, "those who cling to old beliefs will be able to whisper their thoughts in the recesses of their homes, but if they repeat those views in public, they will risk being labeled as bigots and treated as such by governments, employers, and schools." The court has compared the opposition to gay marriage to prohibitions against interracial marriage which is a patently false analogy. Men and women from different races are the same, but the genders are distinctly different. It is a biological fact. These unique differences have been shown by studies to have long–term benefits to children that cannot be duplicated by same–sex couples. Those intent on redefining marriage are saying that they are wiser than all the greatest Jewish and Christian thinkers who ever Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Would you care if two homosexuals were getting married? Why does it matter what others think about their love life? Who are we to be the judge of how they live their life? Did you know that same–sex marriage was allowed because the U.S. Supreme Court decided to go along the fourteenth amendment? I believe that the next amendment should about the marriage equality act. I have an opinion that a lot of Christian people wouldn't have when coming upon this topic. The definition of marriage is the state of being united as spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law. "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error." – Romans 1:26–27. In the Bible, people are not condemned for being attracted to people of the same sex but were condemned if they had sexual intercourse with a person of the same sex. The Bible teachings honestly believed that the homosexual feelings would pass over time. The Bible does not prohibit same–sex marriage because there was no type of relationships that happened like that before. Marriage equality is an issue that affects people within all of the communities surrounding us. Kennedy wrote, "In forming a marital union, two people become Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Whether they use it for their own benefit or for the mere purpose of helping the public, it is crucial to dispute for what you believe in since it may improve the qualities of your surroundings thus leading you to not change your perspective of a granted situation. Before President Obama legalized gay marriage , the LGBT + society struggled to achieve their corresponding rights. Meaning, they lacked the permit to get married by court or church; not only that, but they could not adopt children. However, millions of supporters aided them to acquire the benefits any heterosexual would posses by utilizing their voice. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage In today's society there are certain stereotypically people that are uninterested in gay or lesbian marriage. Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should be legal and a non–punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be adopted, and people will not feel like second–class citizens. If humanity was to acquire gay marriage it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens are deciding and revealing what path they are going to take in middle or high school. "The number of suicide attempts among high school students decreased in states where same–sex marriage was legal. The findings covered thirty–two states that legalized same–sex marriage from 1999 to 2015" (Willingham). All kids have a hard time coming out to the world, and it causes them to not feel heard or accepted. When states make it legal more people that do not support it change their views when they see it is not different from a normal couple. Many teens also feel less accepted by the world when it comes to other kids in their school. Students that do not support others orientation creates a bad environment. "Unsafe school environments prevent LGBT students from reaching their full academic potential" (Slater). The children have to feel heard or they will fall into a depression, and will shut out everyone that actually cares about them. Therefore, "safe spaces for LGBT students" ("LGBT Youth") Which will allow kids to have a safe space with open minded people near them. With open spaces to tell their true feelings and having people that understand really helps kids open up more. Another big thing with teens in this situation is that schools, families, and peers do not know how to communicate with them about safe dating. "18% of LGBT students had experienced physical dating violence" ("LGBT Youth"). This proves that society will attack children that are choosing to love someone they actually have feelings for. When something like this occurs people should prepare teens for safe sex. "The hostility and homophobia common among their peers and family members create a need for an array of specialized services, including sex education designed for the needs of gay Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Gay Marriage "Why don't you deviants get some traditional values of your own?!!" says Anderson. Gay marriage is a big controversial issue everywhere people treat gays like they are not even human and that is wrong we are all equal. Gay marriage impacts our society big time because of so many people thinks it is wrong to have a relationship with two men and two women. They think it should be one woman and one man. Gay marriage should be allowed because they just wanna show their love for their partner and not be judged on being themselves. People should be able to be themselves and be able to love and marry who they want. Some people feel like if gays are allowed to marry, then a lot of people will be turning gay. According to McMillan gay marriage is an attack towards religion and people of faith. Homosexuals are trying to use the courts and political power to force people to accept their lifestyle the bible says that only one man and one woman should marry. The people of faith thinks and feels like gay marriage is going against god and what he wants for the world. God said everyone is equal, so if the people that are against the gays are wrong because they are not treating the gays with respect and equality. They also feel like the gays will go to hell if they have anything to do with the same sex as themselves. The way I feel is gay marriage is not a threat towards religion and the people of faith, it is just that gay people wanna have the same rights like everyone Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Prehistoric, Barbarian, and Civilized. Among the prehistoric savages, marriage was seen as unrestricted sexual intercourse within members of a tribe, meaning that every woman belonged to every man or vice versa. (Evolution). Later, came what were known as Barbarians. Among this group, the pairing family was created. According to an article from The Intercollegiate Review, the construct of "[T]he pairing family was based on the nuclear pairing of one man with one woman, with a limitation on inbreeding through creation of the incest taboo." Although, this practice still often allowed for sisters to be mutual wives of their mutual husband. Finally, what was known as the "civilized stage of marriage" began to take hold. Civilized marriage was based on the idea of "...the monogamous family, resting on patriarchal controls and enforced chastity and fidelity among women, in order to ensure the fathers' lineages." (Evolution). This form of marriage has been favored, and widely accepted throughout the United States for a great deal of time. From the 1940's and 50's where the nuclear family was based on ""role differentiation", where wives/mothers took on the emotional tasks of gratification, warmth and stability, while husbands/fathers focused on instrumental tasks in the outside world."; to the 1960's and 70's, where marriage "shift[ed] its core meaning from "procreation" to "pleasure", and altered the Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Americans view/ deem to be happiness ont eh standards of the American Dream: the ability to achieve economic success. A "normalized" family based on American standards encompasses the idea of marriage and having children. Before the legalization of gay marriage, this "dream" was generally exclusive to heteronormative couples. Slowly, the acceptance of gay marriage as another possibility has opened up the "normalized" family structure to include homosexual couples. The dream is the image of happiness and for those who do not try to achieve it are not deemed happy. Those who choose to be included into this structure are more tolerated than others who do not fit in this molded construct. (AHMED W/ marriage and kids) Queer individuals try to replicate a model that can very well have been defined in heteronormative settings and trying to adapt it: performativity. – Rodriguez's "normalized" family and how that ties into the American Dream of happiness. It Gets Better Campaign (Homonormativity): The idea of this campaign came out of a genuine interest to provide LGBTQ+ youth that were bullied the encouragement and hope to keep living. As a byproduct of this campaign, kids were given countless, but almost homogenous stories about the cruelty older LGBTQ+ people faced as teenagers and how they were able to still grow up and achieve. Persuasive Essay About Gay Marriage Adoptions from the LGBTQ adults is a great thing because it gives the chance to make a family and put a child into a good home. It helps kids get out of the child welfare system. There are 107, 918 foster children that are waiting to be adopted, and every year there is around 50,644 kids that are adopted. That number has been closely the same for five years. According to Live Strong, "Gay parents may be able to better convince a child that they understand bigotry and discrimination because they have been exposed to them" (Live Strong). Being raised by two gay people will help the child learn that people should not be discriminated for who they want to be with. The children will have an open mind set and they will not judge others. It is important in life to have more people that want to love others instead of hating on them, and it is important to legalize LGBTQ marriage because it will spread more love around the world. When states and countries allow LGBTQ marriage, then divorce rates go down. People who are in love with people of their same sex are shamed for being gay and so they will hide who they are as long as possible. People will marry someone that they really don't love and end up divorcing them. After that, they will end up coming out and tell everyone their orientation. You can not help who you fall in love with. According to Kibin.com "the divorce rate goes down when states allow same sex marriage" (Kibin). Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage This issue continues to arise and spark debate year after year and decade after decade however the facts remain that this issue should simple be answered with a yes due to the fact that all humans deserve a right to freedom and as such that right to freedom will technically dictate that they will be given the right to decide any decision they may come across, however on the technical side of debate the four main theories of morality & religion , ethical naturalism, moral relativism and nihilism all present a different side and different approach to the issue. This issue is highly problematic in the sense that a lot of people are wasting time on an issue that really should not affect the day to day lives of anyone, yet a majority of people still chime in and create debates against the ideas of gay marriage on the basis of a variety of nonsense that they choose to follow, In terms of the theories I think I fall into the moral relativism category as I believe this is a personal choice and anyone should be allowed to make whatever choice they wish, they should not be affected and prevented from doing so unless it directly leads to damage or harm to someone else and in the case of gay marriage, it isn't and therefore it would ...show more content... Same–sex marriage has a huge impact on one's liberal and equal rights, "freedom of personal choice in matters of marriage and family life is one of the liberties protected by the Due Process Clause," (Should Gay Marriage Be Legal?) As an administration of justice the clause keeps the government from denying one's liberty and equality which means that the government should not be able to deny the people the right of marriage, even if it's not heterogeneous. The government by not allowing same–sex couples to get married opposes the Due Process Clause,"The Due Process Clause in both the Fifth and 14th Amendments of the US Constitution states that no person shall be "deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law,"(Gay marriage Should be Permitted). Meaning, when one's right of freedom of personal choice in a matter of marriage and family is denied it is well considered to be unconstitutional. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Same–sex marriage allows marriage between man and man or woman and woman. This is an age old fight between conservatives and democrats. Traditionally marriage has been between man and woman, conservatives hold to this idea, while typically democrats push for marriage equality among genders. People who are pro–legalization argue denying a person marriage from someone is an act of discrimination and creates second class citizens. Though those who are anti–legalization argue the institution should remain between man and woman as per tradition. Pro same sex marriage is the position many people are beginning to adopt as they realize love is love and the gender of the people does not matter. To provide true equality gay marriage needs to be legalized in all countries around the world, which also helps to create a safer environment for those in the LGBT+ community by not being legally discriminated against. ...show more content... Persuasive Essay On Same Sex Marriage As the society changing, the history of marriage also changes. Marriage is legally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship, but do those two partners always have to be a man and a woman? Most people believe that homosexuals should be granted equal rights as heterosexual couples. Being as an important social issue, same–sex marriage has become a hot topic of public debates in the recent years. For over the past decade, public support for the same–sex marriage has quickly risen. The United States is one of over twenty countries that allow gay and lesbian couples to wed. I believe that same–sex marriage should be legalized in all countries for several reasons, such as being an issue of equal rights, separation of church and state, no negative effect on the heterosexual communities, increasing in child adoption, and decreasing divorce and suicide rates. First, it can clearly be seen that same–sex marriage is primarily about equality. Everyone has equal rights and liberties to chase happiness, as long as it does not cause harm to the society, so why should their freedoms be limits? Why can't someone be able to marry a person they truly love? Discrimination and banning homosexual couples to get married violates human rights and freedoms. Laws which against gay marriage deny the First Amendment which states that everyone has freedom of speech, expression and religion. Sexual determination is an option, so it is how some people can express themselves. Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Frank Ocean once said, "I believe that marriage isn't between man and woman, but in between love and love". For the past couple of years, Gay marriage and the topic of the LGBT community has been a very controversial topic, especially in America. In the midst of being legalized around the world entirely, there are many people that disagree with the gay marriage , and the concept of gay itself. Gay marriage should be a supported idea because it does not affect anyone in anyway and by supporting it beneficial factors can happen. Gay marriage in America has finally been legalized in America about two years ago. However the discrimination emphasized in America, for example seen in media, have not ended, making it harder for those who are in the LGBT to either come out or even get married. However, because marriage is a life commitment, two that are in love should have the choice of making their own life, not others. This goes into the idea that "same–sex couples should have access to the same benefits enjoyed by heterosexual married couples" ("Gay Marriage"). Although, gay marriage is legal now, there are some laws and benefits that gay people don't have access too. In addition, marriage is an internationally accepted idea for all humans, which includes those who are gay, and the same sex marriage is a civil right. ("Gay Marriage") It is discrimination to disagree on those who have the right. To add on, Gay marriage does not bring any harm to people as said,"we conclude that there is no relationship between implementation of same sex marriage or strong or weak same sex union laws and rates of opposite sex marriage,(Ferro, "Same sex")". Those who claim that gay marriage is a disturbance have only personal views, and a disliking to the concept. Scientifically it does not harm anyone, and by understanding the marriage, the world can be a more peaceful place. Gay marriage can also be beneficial to our society in many different ways. For example, gay marriage can bring economic beneficials as said, "Big corporations want same–sex couples to be allowed to marry because they believe gay marriage is good for business. (Solman, "The Economic") With gay marriage, budget deficits are cut off, therefore bringing Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage An important aspect is the entry of the marriage between people of the same sex. This phenomenon began in the Netherlands in 2001 and spread throughout much of northern Europe, generating great controversy and debate not only locally but globally. The controversy surrounding homosexual marriage has been a constant in the panorama of what is considered unfair or discriminatory. In this sense, we have found public opinion divided between extreme defenders of gay equality and staunch opponents of this position. however, equal marriage must be legal in order to promote equality, family stability and freedom of religion. Equal marriage or gay marriage promotes family stability and non–discrimination in society. In addition, the same–sex marriage is a fundamental constitutional right for all American citizens guaranteed by the fourteenth amendment, thus exercising the right to marry. In addition, marriage is one of the most basic human needs, where the LGBT community exercises equal rights exercised over the law. as it also offers a legal and virtuous option for homosexuals, that is, they not only favor homosexuals but also society as a whole because it offers an accommodation to homosexuals without excluding them. as well as, societies that embrace human reason, ethics, ...show more content... As well, children are benefited by marriage, giving the feeling of stability and legitimacy for society. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Rights Gay Marriage Rights Homosexuality is the sexual attraction to same sex. Being judged and not having the rights that everybody else has is wrong and it's wrong because everybody should have their rights.
