Let's Arguments Against Abortion
Abortion is the murderous slaughtering of an unborn child. Around one million abortion procedures
occur every year; as a result, roughly one million innocent babies die every year. Those poor human
beings never had a chance to walk for the first time, start preschool, graduate, or start a family; they
were killed. Children are being murdered every single day, yet nobody stops this harsh act from
happening. Abortion should be made illegal because it's practically murder, opposes God's word,
and goes against the "unalienable rights to life" recognized by the Founding Fathers. Abortion is
fundamentally murder. The killing of any innocent human being is wrong, accidentally or
intentionally. The penalty for murder is five to ninety–nine years in prison (depending on the case),
with a possibility for parole after thirty years. Only five years in the Jailhouse would feel like a
lifetime! Unborn babies are considered human beings by the U.S. government, and if someone kills

America is an immensely patriotic country. Citizens are proud of where they live, and they always
stand up for what they believe in. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are two of
America's most salient documents; they shaped and formed our country, and are referred to on a
daily basis. The Declaration of Independence states that "[A]ll men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the
pursuit of Happiness." Abortion opposes this idea. Thomas Jefferson specifically stated that ALL
men are equally important and nobody should be persecuted nor looked down upon. "All men"
means everybody, including Native Americans, African Americans, women, even unborn babies.

discussion and a hard subject to address. As a social worker we are thought to provide services

In the United States of America, women have always been fighting for their rights, even recently
with debates on whether or not birth control should be free to woman with certain health insurance
plans. Something very important to a woman's health is abortion. Abortion is the act of ending a
pregnancy before the fetus can survive outside the uterus and it has always been a raging conflict
between many people, dividing the country between prolife and pro choice camps. Those who
oppose abortion believe that abortions are wrong and it's the equivalent to killing a living child
outside of the uterus, almost like a murder. Those who favor pro choice believe that the pregnant
woman should have a choice between keeping the baby or terminating the pregnancy for whichever
reason they personally feel is acceptable. Many pro life believers back up their beliefs with religious
reasoning. The 14th amendments to the United States Constitution provides equal protection for all
citizens, including woman.Despite the protections under the law, there are many states that put up
obstacles. there should not be due to the fact that a woman should be able to choose what goes on
with her body, especially if what she's doing doesn't harm anyone around her.

The right to life is the most basic and important right that we have. In the past two hundred years,
over one million Americans have died for their country. Monuments have been built and speeches
have been delivered, honoring these American heroes. America is now engaged in a war where there
are no heroes, no monuments or tributes – only victims. Our society has declared war on its most
helpless members – our unborn children. Since that war was declared on January 22, 1973, there

have become criminals, while sad, certainly are not sentenced to death that easily and they still have
the possibility of changing their lives. Allowing abortion because of the mere possibility of
becoming a criminal would seem to mean it is permissible to use the death penalty for a lot more
than just murder if taken to its logical and frightening conclusions. Abortion for this reason just
takes us off the hook for showing love and concern to these unwanted children, but that would be
more time consuming and difficult and not always successful and, quite frankly, just not as
convenient for us.
Assume that the practice of drinking milk was widely considered immoral and that the evilness of
drinking milk was obvious to everyone, including children. What is the best way for a minority of
milk drinkers to get their behavior accepted by the majority? The milk drinkers know that they
cannot convince enough people to accept their position by direct argument alone. The only way to
get immoral behavior accepted would be to change the definition of commonly understood words.
For example, they might refer to milk as flavored water and to drink flavored water is not immoral.

In our society today, abortion is a daily occurrence that is considered essential to society even
though it is unconstitutional and immoral. The question is, how did America declare the murder of
unborn babies legal when the cons clearly outweigh the pros?
In America it is a felony to murder another human being, so how is it that babies are allowed to be

However, instead of using America's tax dollars on surgeries that commit murder

should be spending the tax dollars on creating easier access to contraception, or making adoption
costs cheaper. Others may say that it is better to abort the baby rather than put it up for adoption.
This is an absurd argument due to the fact that adoption will provide the baby with a home and a
family that they can grow up in, and feel welcome. It is true that adoption can sometimes seem like
a bad option because of the way movies and television often depict it however, more often than not
it is only the bad foster homes that are heard about on the news, movies or television shows. Rarely
ever does the media portray a loving, caring home where children can be themselves, no matter how
they got there. There is also the argument of fetuses with autism, or other "diseases". Many women
say that they would rather have an abortion than have a child who has to live with autism or missing
limbs, for example. The only problem with this argument is that everyone in life has adversity to
overcome and by aborting a baby simply because of the way he/she will act or look is utterly

of the most heated arguments you can get into and if I am being fully honest I am a little nervous
about publicizing my view point. But here is my research and arguments for whether abortion
should be legal or not. In 1821 Connecticut passed the first law in the United States stopping
abortions after "quickening," when the baby's movements can be felt.(Chicago Tribune, 2015) At the
time that was one of the first actual signs (other than missed periods) that the mother was pregnant.

the definition of human life, (what I have analyzed thus far), as related to the interpretation of the
constitution. In the fifth amendment the constitution states that "No person shall... be deprived of
life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." So there is our answer right there, no person –
the writers didn't write an age limit there or a limit for developmental stage. But what about a
woman having liberty to do what she wants with her body. Is that true? Absolutely! But science

22, 1973(Roe v. Wade) ruled that unduly restrictive state regulation of abortion is unconstitutional.

questioned 44 years later. Movements such as pro–life and pro–choice have both made strides in
converting their beliefs into legislation. However despite the legal progress both sides have made,
abortion continues to be an ethnically divisive topic.
A PEW Research Center survey stated that, "40% of americans believe that abortion should be
illegal in all or most cases." The mission statement of a major pro–life organization named "National
Right to Life (NRLC)" says, "The mission of National Right to Life is to protect and defend the
most fundamental right of humankind, the right to life of every innocent human being from the
beginning of life to natural death." "The Pro–Life Action League" believe that unborn infants have
the same constitutional unalienable rights as any other human being.
Many opponents for abortion cite religious reasons as the basis for their arguments. A PEW
Research Center survey stated that, "70% of evangelical protestants believe that abortion should be
illegal in all or most cases. In addition, 44% of Catholics also believe that abortion should be illegal

Pro–choice Abortion Argumentative Paper When it comes to abortion, everyone has a slightly
different view. Whether one believes that no one, or everyone, should be allowed to get an abortion,
the same question comes into play: Is abortion ethical? In addition, when does a human life actually
start? Without concrete facts, we can only do so much with those questions, which is why this is

Every individual defines pain differently, so "without interrogation, we cannot know for sure what
the fetus feels" (British Medical Journal). As we know, asking a fetus if it feels pain is impossible,
and assuming that they do could be wrong. Considering these statements, abortion cannot
technically be called murder. Fetuses are not self–aware, rational, or attentive like humans. From a
religious standpoint, I understand why people consider abortion murder. A fetus has the potential for
life, and that they consider that potential life a real life. However, stretching this idea farther, sperm
also have the potential for life, but many of these people are not against sex or masturbation.
Fertilization has not yet occurred, but the potential is still there. According to scientific evidence, a
fetus has a fifty to seventy percent chance of becoming a feasible human being. These chances are
relatively high, but not a guarantee, and not yet a life. One cannot kill something that is not yet
alive.
Other topics in regards to abortion are health and rape. Rape is a very touchy subject and still very
controversial when it comes to abortion. If a woman is raped and gets pregnant, she should be
allowed to get an abortion. She did not get a choice in that matter, so she should have the choice on

Abortion is a divisive issue and most of the public is split in half with their views on pro–life and
pro–choice. Currently now is 2017, 40% of Americans say abortion should be legal, in all cases
while the other 57% say abortion should be legal in all or most cases (Pew Research, 2017).
However, views on abortion differ from different demographics of people and level of education of
individuals. For example, majority of white people 58% are for legalizing abortion in comparison
62% of black people are in favor. Yet, men and woman have very similar views on abortion, 55% of
men in favor of legalizing abortion, as do 59% of woman. Level of education is also a huge factor in
an individuals views and opinions towards abortion. Every seven–in–ten college graduates are for
legalizing abortion 69%, but only 49% of high school educated Americans agree to legalize abortion
(Pew Research, 2017).
The main debate question still to this day is, is abortion morally wrong or morally acceptable.
According to Forbes in 2017, the public was split in almost half pro–life and pro–choice. In January
of 2017, Washington D.C. held the Woman's March for Life, marking the long–running debate over
abortion (Forbes, 2017). Thousands of pro–choice supports participated in the run, but also
thousands of pro–life supporters attended the event holding signs with their views and opinions.

The abortion argument is always a tough split decision. Some people lean towards pro–life and
some towards pro–choice. The pro–life group believes that every fetus should be kept alive since
they are a developing human, and every human has a right to life. The pro–choice believe that if it's
the woman's body it should be her choice, especially in a case of rape. For my stance on the
argument I stand with both pro–life and pro–choice due to certain arguments. These arguments came
about after the Supreme Court case of Roe vs. Wade.
The court case of Roe vs. Wade was decided in 1973 and under the fourteenth amendment abortion
became legal. This court case started when a woman wanted to get an abortion in the state of Texas
but abortions were only legal if it was for a medical reason. The woman did not have a medical
reason but she stated that due to her mental health and not being able to take contraceptives she
should be allowed to have an abortion. The court has then ruled a 7 to 2 vote that abortions are legal
in the first trimester, and the second and third would be ruled by the state. Since the legalization of
abortion from the Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade, there have been over 54 million babies
subjected to death by abortion. Deaths due to abortion are said to be higher than those from the
Holocaust, other major 20th century genocides and even some World War II fatalities. The decision

have an abortion when she is up to 24weeks pregnant except if the mothers' life is in danger. Some
people see this as killing innocent babies but others see it as a rescue for teenage mothers' etc.

this changed with the introduction of the Abortion Act (1967) by the Liberal MP David Steel. This
allowed a woman to have an abortion if there was a risk or injury to her or her existing children's

or unmarried pregnacys' would rise dramatically. Also, victims of rape or incest may not want to
have the baby, as it would remind them of their terrible experiences. A lot of teenagers would be

The argument for abortion has been going on for a long time, just under different circumstances or
under a different name, but still with the same base concept. Nowadays there are politicians arguing
over pro/anti–abortion, still the same concept. But till now it is hard for everybody to determine
when can be a fetus considered to be legally killed. Reading the case of Roe v Wade, we read that
there was a single lady with a pregnancy

Abortion is one of the most socially, politically, and culturally controversial topics of the 21st
century, ultimately affecting women of all ages. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, abortion
is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or
closely followed by the death of the embryo (Merriam Webster.1). The United States Supreme Court
ratified the legalization of abortion in an effort to make the procedure safer; this was done through
the Roe v Wade decision of 1973. In the United States more than a thousand abortions take place
every day, and although legal, public opinion remains at a standstill as to whether or not abortion is
ethical. In the midst of the controversy, two groups emerged. These two groups are referred to as
pro–choice and pro–life. Pro–life supporters claim that the life of a baby begins at conception,
therefore the act of abortion is equivalent to murder. Pro–choice supporters, on the other hand,
believe that a woman has the right to choose what she does with her body. In the end, one must
understand the implications of abortion in order to answer the question, is abortion ethically and
legally moral?
In the United States, the history of abortion goes back much farther than the 1973 Supreme Court
case Roe V. Wade
, which made abortion legal and marked an important turning point in public

who believe that abortion should be a right and a woman should be able to decide whether to
terminate her pregnancy. Persons with this perspective are pro–choice. However, there are others
who believe that abortion is not a right and a woman should not be able to terminate a pregnancy
just because she doesn't want to have a baby. People with that view are pro–life. Because abortion is
a debatable issue and has these two perspectives linked to it, we can group arguments used to
support either perspective into categories of pros and cons. Three pros of this topic are; 'A baby
should not come into the world unwanted', 'Abortion is a justified means of population control', and
'The US Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a fundamental right'. Whereas three cons are;
'Abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable', 'Abortion eliminates the potential of
societal contributions of a future human being', and 'Abortion is murder, the killing of an innocent
human being is wrong even if that human being has yet to be born'. As controversial as the subject
of abortion can be, it is more than just a debatable topic for interesting group conversations or small
talk. It is a Health Issue because this procedure, whether it is done medically or surgically comes

An Argument Against Abortion Essay
Abortion in America is a controversial issue in which both sides have valid arguments at face value.
The pro–choice side has many arguments to support it belief in keeping abortion legal. Many of
these are faulty, and argue points irrelevant to the issue as I will attempt to illustrate, thereby
eliminating the main pro–choice arguments. The pro–life position has somewhat different ideas. The
most popular of these is: The unborn entity is fully human from the moment of conception. Abortion
results in the intentional death of the unborn entity. Therefore, abortion can be defined the

The reason this argument doesn't work is because it is begging the question. In fact, this lie hides
behind a good percentage of the popular arguments for the pro–choice position. One begs the
question when one assumes what one is trying to prove is correct. The question–begging of the
coat–hanger argument is very obvious: but only by assuming that the unborn are not fully human
does the argument work. If the unborn are not fully human, then the pro–choicer has a legitimate
concern, just as one would have in overturning a law forbidding appendicitis operations if countless
people were needlessly dying of both appendicitis and illegal operations. But if the unborn are fully
human, this pro–choice argument is the same as saying that because people die or are harmed while
killing other people, the state should make it safe for them to do so. Even some pro–choicers, who
argue for their position in other ways, admit that the coat hanger/back–alley argument is crap.
Although statistics cant establish a particular moral position, there has been arguments over both the
actual number of illegal abortions and the number of women who died as a result of them before
legalization. Prior to Roe vs Wade, pro–choicers used saying that nearly a million women every year
obtained illegal abortions performed
