Page 2 Introduction section (including PICOT Question) (P) In emergency department nurses, what is the effect of (I) routine visits from the behavioral health counselors (C) compared with no intervention (O) on staff retention due to the reduced propensity of nursing burnout and mental disengagement (T) within the next six months? A summary of the purpose of the studies An individual experiencing burnout may find it difficult to continue performing their job due to a variety of factors (Jordan et al., 2016). The hectic work environment, the difficult duties and hours that must be maintained, and the lack of time to complete structured and priority-setting schedules—all of which cause an excessive amount of stress for nurses—are factors that are directly linked to nurse burnout. There is a national nursing deficit in the healthcare industry right now, but patient acuity is also rising. The nation's nursing workforce is sharing a larger workload at the same pay scale, without any more assistance, and with lowered morale. Excessive stress and emotions of overload contribute to a decline in the quality of patient care, and they are dangerous elements in the treatment that patients get. Patient care is at risk due to the cascading effects of nurse burnout (Merces et al., 2020). A comparison of sample populations Hospitals may find it easier to attract and retain nurses if working conditions are improved, compensation is increased to reflect inflation, and nurses feel valued and appreciated. By promoting good behaviors and helping nurses stay focused on patient care and safety, incentives contribute to higher retention rates among nurses. In order to improve patient outcomes and reduce nursing burdens, nurses should push administration to address shortages. In addition to individual in-person debriefing sessions for nurses who have been identified as exhibiting
Page 3 burnout-related symptoms, the proposal presented to the administration calls for the ER staff to hold weekly Zoom meetings with the in-house behavioral health counselors. The intention is to create a forum where employees may share their ideas and emotions with an unbiased outsider regarding pressures. Reducing rates of nurse burnout is intended to increase staff retention. This will be demonstrated by a drop in monthly turnover rates following implementation when compared to the turnover rates over the previous six months (Cook et al., 2021). A synthesis of the studies' conclusions The collective findings from these research demonstrate the important advantages that sessions with behavioral health counselors have for the mental health and job satisfaction of emergency department nurses, which in turn enhances staff retention. Regular interactions with mental health professionals provide crucial support that reduces mental disengagement, reduces burnout, and fortifies nurses' commitment to their work. Conversely, the absence of these interventions is associated with greater rates of employee turnover, extended periods of high burnout, and heightened degrees of mental disengagement. over this reason, scheduling frequent visits from behavioral health counselors to the emergency department is a smart strategy to boost nurse retention and maintain a more contented and healthy workforce over the next half-year. A summary of the limitations of the studies Promoting EBP in clinical units is largely the responsibility of nurse managers. Participation in committees, hospital-wide initiatives, unit decisions, education, and behavioral health evaluations is essential for emergency room nurses.According to research, it's critical to assess an organization's setting in order to determine how to best assist with the application of

Page 4 evidence-based practice in nursing (Curtis & Shaffer, 2020). The Maslach Burnout Inventory subscale will be given to staff members again after the behavioral health staff members use the Zoom calls. The first one that was got will be compared to this. In order to ascertain whether mental health visits lessen worker fatigue and improve retention, turnover rates for the upcoming and previous six months will be compared. Notwithstanding the acceptance and application of EBP, the organization's management may act as a barrier to policy changes (Barrows, 2020). Budgetary constraints force the adoption of EBP recommendations which include buying more tools, spending more time, and building better infrastructures to support the EBP modification to be shelved. First and foremost, there will be insufficient time for the nursing staff to prepare for and conduct in-person or Zoom meetings. Lack of time and hectic schedules may prevent the nurses from completing the Burnout Self-Test (Jordan et al., 2016). A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research A thorough examination of the literature demonstrates indisputably that the weekly visits by behavioral health counselors improve the mental health and job satisfaction of emergency department nurses. These strategies reduce mental disengagement and exhaustion, which raises staff retention rates. The study found that emergency department nurses who receive regular behavioral health treatment have significantly fewer symptoms of burnout, higher job satisfaction, and improved mental engagement with their profession. Because of this, these nurses are more likely to remain in their positions, contributing to a steady and effective medical staff. The absence of behavioral health support is associated with longer-term high levels of burnout, greater mental disengagement, and higher turnover rates among emergency department nurses. These consequences have detrimental implications on the emergency department's
Page 5 general operation and the quality of patient treatment, in addition to having an adverse influence on the nurses' well-being.
