Case Study Week 7 Pre-Class Assignment, Caputi Chapter 4 (pages 123-143) Due by start of lecture class, week 7! Mandy is 21 years old and has had chronic, severe, back pain due to an injury she obtained when she fell through a porch that had a weak floor. Mandy went through physical therapy for 3 weeks and took prescription pain meds for a couple of weeks. Even though her therapist said she was much better, Mandy stated she still had pain. Her doctor, however, switched her to Motrin orally for the pain after 2 weeks of taking Norco. Mandy had become addicted to her Norco, but did not believe she had a problem. She had a “friend” who hooked her up to get the pain medication that she needed. A week later her roommate found Mandy passed out in her bedroom, so she called the squad and they gave her Narcan when they arrived and Mandy recovered. Mandy’s roommate, Alice encouraged Mandy to go to drug rehab so this would hopefully never happen again! Alice had witnessed an overdose of a previous friend from the past, but, that friend did not make it. Mandy did tell her parents and her primary care doctor what happened and she did go to drug rehab. 1. What ésfi'tfi%(l) of Car fO ewoF 2 Wit 2°W50Cfi'§'"3?m T \nformnation 3.
