A 75-year-old female is admitted to a long-term care facility status post-mitral valve replacement.
She
has a past medical history of osteoarthritis; hypertension; atrial fibrillation; and insulin-dependent
diabetes mellitus.
Skin assessment reveals a 3-cm wound on the right heel.
She is alert and oriented
to person, place, time, and recent memory and she rates her pain level as 6 on a scale of 0-10.

Humulin R insulin 10 units and Humulin N insulin 38 units subcutaneous 30 minutes ac breakfast
