LEADERSHIP SELFIE PAPER
For me, the Jothari Window Project revealed a lot about how I view myself and how that interacts with other’s perceptions of me and then on top
of that, what are things that both groups don’t understand about myself. Johari Window is a communication model that helps individuals better understand themselves and their relationships with others. The model was created by psychologists Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham in 1955 and has been
widely used in personal and professional development settings ever since.
The Jothari Window Project re-affirmed a lot of the qualities that I see in
myself, including being silly or extroveted, which were things about myself that I’ve always known and that other people have known .The Johari Window Project is a collaborative exercise designed to help individuals and groups improve communication, build trust, and foster teamwork. The project involves creating a four-quadrant grid that represents the four aspects of the Johari Window model: the open self, the hidden self, the blind self, and the unknown self.
Non-behavioral behavior that I can use to bring Hidden or Unknown adjectives of myself, which include caring, giving and idealistic into my Open
self are by making sure to show elements of myself like my philanthropy and
my ambition in my everyday actions to exemplify these adjectives. For me, using aspects of this in my public speaking career will allow me to be more authentic to myself and others, and then additionally it allows me to speak

confidently more. Participants in the project begin by identifying their own strengths and weaknesses and then soliciting feedback from others to expand their understanding of themselves. The goal is to increase the size of
the open self quadrant, which represents the aspects of oneself that are known to oneself and to others.
The top three adjectives that would stand out the most to me as a leader are being relaxed, confident and knowledgeable. Being relaxed allows
you to be calm and rational in your decision making, and not falling impulsively to emotion or outside influence. Being confident allows me to have faith and assurance in my decision making, strengthening my correct decisions and allowing me to learn and pivot from the negative decisions. Being knowledgeable allows me to not only be able to make informed and correct decisions, but also to be able to curve off the bad decisions and allowing myself to learn from the mistakes of others. The project also involves building trust and empathy by sharing personal stories and experiences, and developing a shared language for discussing communication and interpersonal dynamics. Through the Johari Window Project, individuals and groups can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others, leading to more effective communication, greater collaboration, and stronger relationships.
