Which parts are being replaced most? i. The parts being replaced the most are fuel tanks at 95, followed by tire repair at 75, tire replacement at 66, and windshields at 63 b. Is there a region of the country that experiences more part failures and replacements than others? i. Identify region: 1. The Midwest has the highest number of part failures and replacements followed by the Northeast then the Southeast. The West and Southwest regions have the least.
ii. How might the fleet maintenance team use the information to update its maintenance schedule? 1. They should investigate what causes those regions to have a high number of parts repairs, they could start by looking into the West and Southwest and find out why their numbers are so low. I ran the query to f ind out the reason for the repairs in each region. The Midwest has rust of the cab corner panel as the main reason, the Northeast has brake line corrosion, the Southeast and Southwest both have dead battery and the West has cracked windshields. This information can be helpful and the maintenance team can have these parts on hand to be able to make these repairs quickly and get the vehicles back on the road. c. Which parts are being replaced most due to corrosion or rust? i. There is not much difference between the parts that are being replaced due to corrosion or rust, but the wheel arch is the most at 55 followed by fenders at 54, rocker panels at 53, and brake lines at 52. It would be helpful for fleet maintenance to have all of these parts on hand so they don’t have to wait for them and can get the vehicles repaired and back on the road quickly.
d. Which parts are being replaced most because of mechanical failure or accident, like a flat tire or rock through the windshield? i. Again, there is not much of a difference between the parts that are being repaired because of mechanical failure. Tire repair is the most at 74, followed by tire replacement at 66, and windshield replacement at 63. 2. Write a brief summary of your analysis that takes the information from Step 1 and presents it in a way that nontechnical stakeholders can understand. We studied the repair data and found that the Midwest and Northeast had the highest number of repairs. We also found out that the 2016 Rams had the most repairs in each region. It may be worth replacing the older vehicles with newer ones, especially the 2016 Ram vehicles. The fuel tanks, tires, and windshields were the top three parts that required replacement. By analyzing the repair data along with the make and model of the vehicles, we found that the most repairs were on the 2016 Ram vehicles. It would be wise to consider replacing these vehicles, given the regional repair numbers. 3. Outline the approach that you took to conduct the analysis. a. What queries did you use to identify trends or themes in the data? I began all of my queries using SELECT statements. However, to identify trends in the regions, I used the UNION query. When searching for the reason for repairs, I utilized the LIKE statement, along with the wildcard symbol “%” to retrieve the necessary information. b. What are the benefits of using these queries to retrieve the information in a way that allows you to provide valuable information to your stakeholders? i. Using queries can help you gather relevant information from a dataset and make informed business decisions. By using queries,

Explain how the functions in the analysis tool allowed you to organize the data and retrieve records quickly. a. I used SELECT statements to tell CODIO what I wanted to do and listed out the information I needed to extract from the dataset. The UNION statement was particularly helpful as it combined the select statements I needed to compare while organizing the data into regions. Additionally, the ORDER BY statements helped to organize the information in the specified order, making it easier to view.
