Specifications subject to change without notice. NUMBER: 5.1C/101 ISSUED: November 1976 REVISED: PRODUCT: Centaur MODEL(S): Compressor, Mechanical Drive Specifics: Units with Constant Amp Throttle Control Z154 SUBJECT: CHANGE IN MAIN FUEL ACTUATOR (Z144) CHECKOUT PROCEDURE Type of Change: Product Information Recommended Compliance: Information Purpose: To provide information on revised temperature topping test and adjustment procedures. GENERAL INFORMATION: This change in procedure applies only to the static checkout of the Z144 topping system. Early issues of Operation and Maintenance Instructions for Centaur compressor sets and mechan- ical drive packages provided the instructions referenced and schematically illustrated in Figure 1, for temperature topping test and adjustment. These instructions have since been revised (in May 1976) to those referenced and schematically illustrated in Figure 2. The indicated steps (6 and 18) typically appear in Section 2 of compressor manuals, and in Section 5 of mechanical drive package manuals. Users whose manuals now read as shown in Figure 2 need take no action for conformance with this bulletin; the procedure is appropriate as it appears in the manual. Users whose manuals read as shown in Figure 1 should substitute procedural steps 6 and 18 of Figure 2 for the same steps (6 and 18) of Figure 1, in their manuals. 1. Install a jumper from T9-5 (wire 567) to T9-9 (wire 571). This allows Z144 turn-on bias to trigger Z144 N gp amplifier when testing in static state. 2. Remove the jumper wire installed in step 6. 3. Remove jumper between T9-5 and T9-2 (wires 567 and 168) at T9-2 and reinstall from T9-5 to T9-9 (wire 567 to 571). This allows Z144 turn-on bias to trigger Z144 N gp amplifier when testing in static state. 4. Restore jumper between T9-5 and T9-2 (wires 567 and 168), and remove jumper from T9-5 to T9-9, installed in step 6. Completion of this change, where necessary, will provide a better circuit for checkout of the tem- perature topping function. Basically, the old procedure called for a jumper between the E and G terminals on the Z144 control as the only requirement for properly triggering the amplifier. The new procedure requires the removal of the jumper between 168 and 567 in addition to the E-G jumper. Page 4 of 4 SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 5.1C/101
