Stunk Works is a small team that has autonomy, and is apart from senior management, in the other hand the automobile company has a bigger structure with a complex structural level structures will move slower in the decision-making process rather than smaller structures. Having to wait for upper management to make decision can delay production and communication might not always be clear. Shared Vision: Clearance Johnson, leader for Stunk Works, had a projection calendar for days remaining for job completion, always focusing on been on time, Johnson gave his team freedom to create and make decisions, With the structure on the automobile company, not giving authority to workers to make decision and having to wait the process through the chain might have a disconnection between upper management and team members. Creative Climate: Stunk Works has a system that allows team to make decisions without the senior management approval, everyone shares the same vision, and they learn as they face opportunities. The automotive company has many loops to go which will delay processes and might not potential and new ideas inside the company. Effectiveness of Teamwork: Stunk Work is a small team working together for the same vision. The automobile company does not have assigned works , they will move around employees from other areas to work on projects. A better communication process and more empowerment to those that are facing customer’s and working directly in production will bring a better understanding of what is
expected and a better communication process. References
