Assignment 7 1 Assignment 7 Alexus McCurley-Shimer American Military University ISSC452: Cybersecurity Professor Booth December 20, 2023
Assignment 7 2 When it comes to conducting an investigation on the accounting software the first step should be to receive all documentation . This means the legers and checkbooks so that way an investigation can be done on both of the items . This will be able to ensure that whatever error is found then their can be a trail to see why . There will be interviews conducted as well to get the full understanding of all of the facts of the issue . Next will be surveillance which consists of monitoring and tracking all of the official emails and messages that are sent by the organization . Following that will be the analyzing evidence stage where the investigator will be able to understand the extent of the issues . There are seven steps that can be taken after the investigation . 1. Institute strong internal controls . 2. Perform periodic audits of the financial statements . 3. Set a tone of honesty at the top which means that the employees will need to see the leader or boss to do what is acceptable for the organization . 4. Use an enterprise resource planning accounting software . 5. Establish an internal hotline/reporting system . 6. Do not tie management bonuses and compensation to short term goals . 7. Follow up on the gut instinct . If you think that there is something wrong then trust that instinct and have an investigation started . Either that is nothing wrong or you found something that could have hurt the company .
