2 People First San Diego: An Organizational Design Analysis. Introduction. Organizational design has a pivotal role in shaping the structure and functioning of an organization. In this analysis, I will delve into the organizational design of People First San Diego, a fictional organization created by Walden University. The goal is to analyze and understand the key aspects of its organizational design, how it aligns with the organization's mission, and what insights can be drawn from its organizational chart. Organizational Design. People First San Diego (PFSD) is a prominent self-advocacy organization dedicated to promoting the rights and inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities. This report analyzes PFSD's organizational design, examining its elements, contribution to the mission, and role of the organizational chart. PFSD utilizes a divisional organizational design, characterized by two primary divisions: governance and administration. This divisional structure allows for expertise within each division, leading to smoother decision-making and program execution. Governance Division : The Governance Division oversees PFSD's strategic direction, sets policies, and ensures financial stability. Led by the Board of Directors, which includes the President, Secretary, Treasurer, and four additional members, they work together to guide the organization's overall strategy. 3 Administration Division: Whereas the Administration Division handles daily operations, program implementation, and staff management. The Executive Director leads the charge, overseeing initiatives and ensuring program success. They rely on the Program Director to manage specific programs like Advocacy and Education. Further down the line, Program Managers and Coordinators directly support program participants and implement activities. Administrative and financial support are provided by dedicated staff. Mission Alignments. Is to promote the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities (IDD). Also, to ensure that all programs and activities uphold the rights and dignity of individuals with IDD. Provide training and support to individuals with IDD and their families. The Program Director and Program Managers oversee programs designed to empower individuals with IDD and their families. Advocate for systemic change to promote inclusion for individuals with IDD. The Advocacy program works to influence policies and practices that create more inclusive communities.
