Will the project be successful? Based on the skills approach, I would assess Dr. Wood's leadership style of authority-compliance and belittling his team is not conducive to a positive work environment. This is causing a negative impact on the relationship between Dr. Wood and them member of the Elder Care Project Team. He should consider embracing the "Team Leadership" style that balances his team needs and production, resulting in high satisfaction and performance. It is important for a leader to foster a supportive and respectful atmosphere to promote collaboration and productivity. Dr Wood should Considering these factors, the success of the project may be at risk due to the unfavorable leadership approach and work environment. Q. Does Dr. Wood have the skills necessary to be an effective leader of this research team? Based on Dr. Wood's impressive accomplishments and evident intelligence, I firmly believe that he possesses the necessary skills to excel as an effective leader. While it is understandable that he maybe experiencing frustration, it is important to recognize that frustration can sometimes hinder one's ability to showcase their full potential. Despite his preference for working alone maybe within his comfort, I do believe in the right setting and less pressure he would be able to bring out the best in his team and lead them to success. Q. The skills model describes three important competencies for leaders: problem-solving skills, social judgment skills, and knowledge. If you were to coach Dr. Wood using this model, what competencies would you address with him? What changes would you suggest that he make in his leadership?
If I were to coach Dr. Wood using the skills mode, I would address two of the three competencies which would be problem-solving skills and social judgment skills. To help him with problem-solving, I would encourage him to think outside the box, consider deferent perspectives, and explore creative solutions. He's leading a diverse and dynamic team, it's crucial for him to approach problem-solving with care and adapt his leadership style to get the job done more effectively. Furthermore, I would suggest that he work on buildings strong relationships, improving communication, and navigating interpersonal dynamics effectively. By honing these competencies, Dr. Wood would be better served to tackle challenges and inspire his team towards success.
