Upon reviewing the survey and leadership adaptive toolkit I believe enable others to act and encourage the heart are the two areas with the greatest need for improvement. While all the leadership behaviors could use improvements the two chosen leadership behaviors address many more questions on the survey. The employees feel that they cannot communicate ideas or trust their managers. They do not feel appreciated, supported, and are not rewarded or praised when they work hard. This has put a huge wedge between management and the employees. Addressing encourage the heart as a leadership behavior will improve the focus areas job satisfaction, reward, recognition & praise. “People want to know that their managers believe in them and in their abilities to get a job done. They want to feel valued by their employers, and acknowledging an accomplishment is a great way to demonstrate their value ( Kouzes, J, Posner, B., 2017). Managers need to establish a good recognition program to ensure their employees feel appreciated and valued for their hard work. An example would be to recognize someone at meetings or even create an employee recognition wall that features employees for their hard work. Enabling others to act addresses building better relationships with employees and strengthening others. To improve in these areas Emotional intelligence (EI) is especially important. emotional intelligence encompasses many different aspects of being a strong leader. These include Interpersonal EQ (consisting of interpersonal relations, social responsibility, and empathy), intrapersonal EQ (including assertiveness, self-awareness, self-respect, self- actualization, and independence), adaptability EQ (including problem solving, flexibility, and reality testing), stress management EQ (which involves impulse control and stress tolerance), and General Mood EQ (consisting of happiness and optimism) ( Yadav, R., &Lata, P., 2019). This leadership skill alone will make the leaders well rounded and improve morale. It ties into so many focus areas and will help build better rapport and relationships within the company. By practicing and improving these leadership behaviors/skills it will promote better scores on the survey and performance within the company. References Kouzes, J. M., & Posner, B. Z. (2017).
