What are the values of your organization (or an organization with which you are familiar)? What leadership style do you see applied? What characteristics of a servant leader philosophy do you see applied here? What characteristics of conscious capitalism are evident? How does the leadership style affect employee developmental needs and improve organizational behavior? The mission of my organization is to inspire hope and promote healing through integrated clinical practice, education and research. The values to drive this mission are respect, integrity, compassion, healing, teamwork, innovation, excellence and stewardship and are referred to as our rich ties to promote the primary value of the company which are the needs of the patient come first. I see the path-goal theory of leadership applied in my organization. Leaders in my organization are called to be readily able to adapt to different situations within the healthcare field. Because of this, leadership positions seem to be filled more on the focus more of how individuals deal with situations more so than individual specific traits of the leaders. This leads to a wide range of leadership personalities. According to Griffin et al. (2020), the path-goal theory of leadership states that effective leader behavior clarifies paths and behaviors that will lead its direct reports to success. Our company is specific and details what it requires of its employees at an institutional level. However, servant leadership shines through in the fact that they can bring a human element to the daily tasks. Many leaders ask themselves how they can best interpret these protocols and specific details to meet the needs of their direct reports and facilitate success both for the company and their employees. Conscious capitalism is shown in the ethical behavior expected in every level of the institution and how it is run. They take into account the patients’ first, but also their employees, communities locally and at large as they are one of the top leading healthcare systems in the world. Their leadership style promotes individual development catered to each employee’s unique needs to help everyone thrive and contribute to the company with their highest potential. Griffin, R. W., Phillips, J. M. & Gully, S. M., (2020). Organizational behavior: Managing people and organizations. 13th edition. Cengage.
