Assessm
ent re-
submissi
on
If a student is deemed NYC (not yet competent)in a unit, the Trainer/Assessor will explain the reason for achieving NYC and inform the student of what needs to be completed in order to demonstrate competence.
Re-assessment for assessments only occurs if the student has previously submitted the assessment or has missed the relevant session(s) and has any compassionate reasons or special consideration approved by the Administration department.
If the result for the first submission of an assessment is NYC, students will be given two re-submission opportunities to achieve a
competent result (this re-assessment is conducted free of charge). The reassessment will occur within 14 days in a suitable period for that unit. Should a student either not make an attempt within this time frame (in spite of all efforts by Albright Institute, its Trainer/Assessor and administration staff to have the student attend a reassessment session) or the student does not achieve a satisfactory result after two re-assessments they may be charged for another attempt.
Should the student still not achieve competence after these assessment attempts, it will be necessary for them to re-enrol in (repeat) the unit of competence at a cost.
Assessme
nt appeals
You can make an appeal about an assessment decision by filling an
appeal form. The appeal form is available on the Albright Institute’s
website. Refer to Albright Institute’s Assessment Policy for more information about our appeals process.

document describes.
•
Please ensure all dates and signatures are accurate and students are
submitting the assessments on time unless the student has an approved extension for submission. •
Make sure to remind students to keep a copy of their work, and to back it up. If the student is required to produce to produce their work
a second time due to a corrupt uploaded file, they should be able to do so. Back-ups are necessary because computer failure as a reason for not producing the work a second time.

•
In exceptional cases, the written assessment could be paper based. The assessor must approve this prior to implementation.
•
Assessment submission process:
1.
All assessments submission should be by the due date, which is usually the end date of the unit, as per the VET Study Plan. 2.
The assessor will mark the assessments on Moodle using the marking guide, will provide sufficient feedback, and will enter the result in RTO Manager within the timeframe detailed in the Albright Assessment Policy.
3.
Where applicable, all the hard copies assessments to be handed over
to the administration staff for storing in the student file. Because submission usually occurs through Moodle or email, this will normally
not be necessary.
4.
If a re-submission is required, the trainer will provide the student with a copy of the feedback and will issue or conduct the assessment
again. If required, a one-on-one feedback and support session may take place between the student and trainer. 5.
Students will have the period detailed in the Albright Assessment Policy to re-submit.
Determining Competence
•
For an overall unit assessment result to be competent
, a student must be able to demonstrate competency in ALL the elements and performance criteria, performance and knowledge evidence, and foundation skills requirements as many times as the training package requires
.
•
In Albright, attendance and course progress go hand in hand. Only if the students comply with Albright’s Course Progress Policy and Albright’s Attendance Policy will they be eligible to receive the final assessment result for the unit.
•
To be deemed competent in this unit of competency the student must have satisfactorily completed all assessment tasks. To be recognised as having completed an assessment task satisfactorily, the student must meet every marking criterion for that task.
Giving Assessment Feedback
Please provide feedback with all assessment tasks. Feedback for assessment is valuable only when it is received by the student, understood by the student and acted on by the student. To benefit student learning, feedback needs to be:
Constructive – highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of work, it should set out ways in which the student can improve the work.
Timely – it should be given while the assessed work is still fresh in a student's mind before the student moves on to subsequent tasks.
Meaningful – it should target individual needs, be linked to specific assessment criteria, and be received by a student in time to benefit subsequent work.
Useful – it should be able to guide the student to close gaps in their understanding and be useful for their learning.
Focused – it should focus on the learning demonstrated in the students' work, not on their marks/ grades/ outcomes, or the students themselves. ANIT Australia Pty Ltd T/A Albright Institute of Business and Language

Cursory one-word comments, such as “Fantastic” or “Great work!” should be avoided.
Evidence criteria used to judge the quality of performance
The evidence criteria ensure the intent of the assessment tool is met and that the learner is able to demonstrate they have valid, sufficient, authentic and current skills and knowledge relevant to the unit. You must use these evidence criteria or ‘assessment decision-making rules’ to make judgements about whether competency has been achieved by the student, specifically by
checking evidence quality (i.e., the rules of evidence)
judging how well the student performed according to the standard expected, and
collating evidence from multiple sources to make an overall judgement
The criteria confirm the evidence provided by a learner:
directly relates to the competency being assessed
is enough to allow the assessor to make a valid judgement
is the learner’s own work, and
shows currency of the skills and knowledge required
Referencing
In order to avoid plagiarism, students must acknowledge and reference sources and must give credit appropriately. Whenever information is obtained from another
source, including ideas, examples, theories or opinions, a full reference must be made to that source.
Reviewing assessments
On completion of assessment, you must review the assessment activity according to your organisation’s procedures to ensure that:
feedback on the assessment activity is sought from the student
both positive and negative features experienced in conducting the assessment are conveyed to those responsible for the assessment procedure
suggestions for improving the assessment process are made or changes are
made to the assessment process and materials
appropriate validation processes are implemented
