5.1 Prepare: Accommodations I Quiz Due May 20 at 11:59pm Points 10 Questions 10 Time Limit None Instructions Overview In some ways, the accommodations in which one stays on a trip can make or break the whole experience. Think about your own travel history; have you ever had an experience in a hotel or other accommodation that was so unpleasant that you never wanted to "stir from home" again? Conversely, have you ever had a magical experience in which it was hard to decide what you liked more, the adventures you had outside your hotel or the rest and relaxation you experienced?     This lesson will help you begin to understand what can make hospitality and tourism accommodations more like the latter so that your customers will want to read one more page of that great book of life that you're helping them experience.

Fractional   Question 7 1 / 1 pts To qualify as a “competitive set,” a minimum of 3 hotels is required. Answer 1: Correct! 3   Question 8 1 / 1 pts Kemmons Wilson was the founder of which popular hotel brand?   Hyatt   Best Western Correct!   Holiday Inn   Motel 6   Question 9 1 / 1 pts Choose a hotel segment you would want to stay at for a 1-week vacation and discuss the pros and cons of that selection? Your Answer: I would probably do an extended stay because I need a break from reality and stress from everything going on. The pros I feel would be good for me is getting away, having the much needed rest, and having fun as well. The cons out of it all would be spending big money, and big
crowds. However it will be worth it in the end just to get away from the stress and reality of handling things in life but it does provide great results in the end.   Question 10 1 / 1 pts In 1951, hotels added several features that are considered industry standards today. What industry standards do you see going into effect today, which will still be around in 50 years? Your Answer: I think within the next 50 years, technology will be a big change in people wanting to stay in a hotel. Plus what the customer would want in their accommodations can benefit in what they want to do for their vacation and to have a great experience from this as well. Not to mention with culture and people being surrounded with this locally it will benefit in making the hotel industry grow beyond as well. People need to think outside the box what the customers want for their stay, and I believe this will benefit in success by the next 50 years and the future ahead in life as well.
