Benchmark - A Christian Perspective in Vision and Mission Martha Imelda Sandoval Colangelo College of Business, Grand Canyon University MGT-660: Strategic Management Dr. Kevin Jones January 17, 2024
Amazon- Mission and Vision Statement “We strive to offer our customers the lowest possible prices, the best available selection, and the utmost convenience,” reads Amazon's mission statement (Mission-Statement.com, n.d.). Customers can anticipate that Amazon will go above and beyond to satisfy their demands by providing them with a wide selection, reasonable prices, and a personalized experience. In order for the business to realize its vision, the mission lays forth actionable and applicable tasks (Mission-Statement.com, n.d.). Amazon's mission statement for 2022 states that the firm aspires to "become Earth's most customer-centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online." According to this mission statement, Amazon prioritizes becoming a customer- centric business that bases every decision on pleasing the needs of the client. By following its fundamental values of "customer obsession, invent and simplify, hire and develop the best, deliver results, and earn trust of others," Amazon aspires to be the largest influence on the market as an e-commerce corporation internationally (Mission-Statement.com, n.d.). Reflection of the Greater Social Good Amazon represents the larger good of society in its mission and vision statement. The worldview is described as “a foundational set of assumptions, to which one commits that serves as a framework for understanding and interpreting reality and deeply shapes one’s behavior” and can be divided into four key parts “a set of assumptions, commitments, a framework, and how it impacts behavior” (Waddell, 2015). Helping people obtain items and/or devices that will improve their daily lives is what Amazon thrives on. The connection with employees until after- sales services is vital to ensuring employees get the most out of their money. As a result, client confidence in the company's services and assurances will progressively improve over time.
Through Christianity, Worldview Organization adopts the premise that providing excellent service to consumers means serving the Lord. Commitment to the Greater Social Good/ Christian Worldview Jeff Bezos, the company’s founder and current executive chairman founded Amazon on prosperity and truth. One of his greatest concerns is that Amazon may become involved in internal politics and that they would value social cohesion instead of truth. Amazon has done a lot of wonderful things for the community during the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition to adding the additional $2 to employees' hourly compensation and increasing sick leave, it established an Amazon Relief Fund to assist its partners in delivery services and its drivers, filled 100,000 new jobs, and spent more than $800 million on Covid-19 safety measures. In addition to providing free access to Amazon movies, songs, and other forms of content, Amazon has additionally helped its customers by preventing price gouging by keeping fair prices, preserving clean facilities, and promoting contactless delivery for customer safety.  Amazon and a Christian Worldview The values of Amazon's leadership and their relevance to Christianity. According to Lim (2020), there are 14 principles under Amazon’s leadership principles. They are customer obsession, ownership, invent & simplify, bias for action, dive deep, hire and develop the best, frugality, vocally self-critical, are often correct, insist on highest standards, think big, has backbone and disagrees & commit, earns trust of others, and delivers results (Lim, 2020). Organizations within Amazon that are involved in property development sometimes have to decide whether to stick to their reasonable but nuanced core values or pursue unethical commercial practices like tax evasion or loan fraud in order to stay ahead. Consequently, the policies and procedures that organization management adopts may be greatly impacted by

Christian worldviews. Considering that. Given a Christian worldview, Amazon might be more willing to compromise on development objectives and profit, but it wouldn't do so by using unethical means. Since Amazon focuses on societal well-being and the improvement of many through social accountability, I believe that their commitment to the greater good is relevant and consistent with a Christian worldview. In the same way, Amazon is committed to advancing society through a range of globally implemented Christian worldview initiatives. Moreover, Amazon has made significant and ongoing investments in social concerns. Furthermore, they each contribute to the well-being of individuals and society as a whole and incorporate aspects of a Christian worldview in an inconsistent manner in line with the firm's philosophy. Amazon subsequently established a vision statement that emphasized an organization that is client-oriented in its original mission statement to serve customers. The organization cannot take advantage of the demands of the customers because the two operate under the supervision of the Christian Worldview. Christian perspective is reflective through customer satisfaction, employee retention, well-organized operations, sustainable growth, and profit maximization in this matter. The methods let Amazon fulfill the concept of the always shifting wants and desires of its customers.
