Hello Class, A conflict I was facing at my current work was a disagreement about how new hires should be trained. This disagreement was between me and my coworker as we had a philosophical difference. Specifically, active strategies are associated with greater psychological benefits as they communicate concerns toward others and aim to find a solution, thus possibly diminishing the conflict’s intensity and negative repercussions” (Arias‐Valenzuela, 2019). I wanted to train the individual in the basics of our daily tasks and explain how to best answer customer questions. My coworker was telling them how to handle situations rather than let the new hire figure their routine and day to day tasks. And would do different tasks for the new hire rather than letting them learn for themselves. The type of conflict I faced was a different opinion and I went to my higher up to ask their opinion how this issue should be solved. Reference: Arias‐Valenzuela, M., Amiot, C. E., & Ryder, A. G. (2019). Identity configurations and well- being during normative cultural conflict: The roles of multiculturals’ conflict management strategies and academic stage.
