3 Introduction One of the top airlines in the world is American Airlines. The corporation is a worldwide airline that operates in the major metropolitan areas of the United States, with its destinations located in 9 urban centers of 15 major American cities. The company has corporate plans and tactics, like direct flights to the world's top business hubs. This company's control of the home transportation network is another key strategic position. Although competition is always acceptable, American Airlines is in an extraordinarily advantageous position and status due to its reputation abroad among other airline firms (Mayo & Singleton, 2015). The American Airlines Corporation's domestic transportation network is the essential tactic that has contributed to laying the groundwork for corporate rivalry (Mayo & Singleton, 2015). There are very few chances of losing customers in domestic and foreign markets once a company has been acknowledged and chosen as the best domestically. So, the external environment analysis is carried out to help identify the opportunities available and nearby for a business to address problems and difficulties and make educated decisions (Phadermrod, Crowder & Wills, 2019). Due to competition, the business climate is constantly changing. American Airlines uses external environment analysis to identify opportunities and challenges facing the company. For American Airlines to be able to develop strategies and meet present and upcoming difficulties, it is essential to understand the external environment. This study assesses American Airlines' external environment, focusing on its dangers and opportunities, external factor evaluation (EFE) matrix, and competitive profile matrix (CPM). The goal is to assess the company's competitive status in the external environment and offer measures it can implement to deal with competition in its industry.
