The world spent two years working from home and now there seems to be an awakening among office goers that the old model of 9am-5pm workdays isn’t a productive way to spend one’s time and life. Offices have begun testing the efficiency of three types of work models : 1. Work only from home/anywhere 2. Work sometimes from home and sometimes from office (hybrid work) 3. He says: a. “in office style has been effective” b. “I don’t know how you build great management virtually” Your assignment The CEO, Eric Schmidt of Google hires you as an Organizational Behavior Consultant and asks you what the effect on Organizational Behaviour will be in the three models detailed above. You have carefully read his views in the link provided above. Now answer the following questions. Q1. While evaluating the pros-cons of these three models, you are challenged by how best to communicate these models to employees. State the pros and cons of each model and describe the best communication channel you will use for each model to brief employees. Q2. Of the three models, which one will you recommend to Google’s CEO as being best fit and which will keep employees engaged, motivated and strengthen Organizational Culture. You are aware that the CEO has said that all Google employees must return to the office. So as a consultant you cannot tell him that the “Hybrid model” or the “Work from home model” is the best way to move forward. You must explain to him what each model means to the employee AND to the organisation and what are the pros and cons of each - if implemented. The CEO should then be able to make an informed decision based your recommendations. How I will grade you a. Use concepts from Chapters 9,10,11,12 and 14 to write your answers. b. The rubric must be used to set the standard of your responses. I will use it to grade you. c. Your ability to use the concepts from the text and the power point and integrate them into your answers is key to getting a good mark. This is a descriptive assignment, so providing two line answers is not what the objective of learning is. d. Usage of any external material is prohibited . You will be given a zero if it is noted through Plagiarism that you have used sources other than the textbook and the PowerPoint. e. There is a two-page limit. The quality of your words and your thinking matters more than the quantity of your words. f. Important to answer each of the case questions, using full sentences, proper grammar, and spelling. Be sure to tie all answers back to concepts, theories, and processes learned in class. g. A works-cited page to site the course text, lectures, and notes (No other sources are allowed). Lectures and class notes can be sited by using the following format: Rau, 2023, [insert date of lecture or refer to the chapter you are referring to]. OR – OB Textbook page … h. Use APA 7 th edition style (see format provided in attachments), Font size 12, Arial, single spacing. i. all key words highlighted that refer to the concepts taught . You may lose 20% of the 15 marks assigned marks if you do not do so. j. Plagiarism – taking information from external sources means you get a zero. There is no second chance. Do not copy the question in this assignment . When you do so, the Plagiarism score is high. Only state the Question number. The Plagiarism score is indicated as a percentage. Do not worry about the percentage in Plagiarism if your score is high as a result of your quoting information from the textbook and the PowerPoint. If you have done your work conscientiously and with integrity, I will grade you accordingly.
