2 After conducting thorough research on the internet and reviewing the reading materials assigned for this week, the following are the distinct definitions of leadership and their variances. Aikido is a leadership methodology that centers on the principle of aligning with an adversary's energy to manage their actions and channel their energy towards a constructive resolution. Aikido leaders prioritize empathy, comprehension, and identifying shared interests to circumvent confrontations. (Maria, n.d). The SMART approach is a widely recognized leadership technique that emphasizes the importance of setting goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This approach, as defined by (SlideModel, 2023), enables leaders to establish clear, concise, and attainable objectives that align with their organizational vision and mission. By adhering to the SMART framework, leaders can effectively communicate their expectations to their team members, monitor progress, and make necessary adjustments to ensure that goals are achieved within the specified timeframe (SlideModel, 2023). Overall, the SMART approach is a valuable tool for leaders seeking to enhance their goal-setting and management skills. The DELPHI Analysis is a leadership technique that involves soliciting the opinions and forecasts of a group of experts or stakeholders on a specific issue, while ensuring their anonymity. This approach allows for the collection of diverse perspectives, which can then be used to make well-informed decisions. By leveraging the collective wisdom of the participants, the DELPHI Analysis enables organizations to gain valuable insights and navigate complex challenges. This method, as described by Paine and Masie (2010), offers a structured and systematic approach to decision-making, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the decision-making process.

STAR is an acronym that stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result. It is a widely recognized leadership technique that is employed to effectively structure responses to interview questions or to present notable accomplishments ( Wharton, 2015). By utilizing the STAR method, individuals are able to provide a clear and concise account of a specific situation or task, the actions they took to address it, and the resulting outcomes. This approach not only enhances communication skills but also enables individuals to showcase their problem-solving abilities and demonstrate their capacity for achieving successful results. Employing the STAR technique can greatly enhance one's interview performance and overall professional presentation ( Wharton, 2015). The GROW approach, an acronym for Goal, Reality, Options, and Way Forward, is a leadership technique utilized to structure coaching conversations and assist individuals and teams in identifying and achieving their objectives. This approach is widely recognized for its effectiveness in guiding individuals towards their desired outcomes. ( Threadgould, , 2023). Highlights the significance of the GROW approach in coaching conversations, emphasizing its ability to provide a structured framework for goal-setting and problem- solving. By utilizing this approach, leaders can facilitate productive discussions that lead to actionable solutions and positive outcomes for individuals and teams.

An Example of Decision That didn’t result to the Expected Benefits To The Organization. The organization made a decision to allocate substantial resources towards the development of a new technology product, without undertaking a comprehensive evaluation of market demand and competition. This oversight prevented the company from understanding the dynamics of the market and the level of investment being made by other companies in the same product. Consequently, the product failed to generate significant interest, leading to a substantial financial loss for the organization. Alternative Decision To prevent financial losses, the organization could adopt an alternative decision-making process utilizing the GROW approach ( Threadgould, 2023). This would involve defining objectives and evaluating market realities, competition, and customer needs. The organization
5 could then explore various options, including market research, prototyping, and product testing with a select group of customers. This approach would result in better-informed decisions and a higher likelihood of success, leading to increased sales, market share, and profitability ( Threadgould, 2023). By implementing this approach, the organization can mitigate financial risks and achieve its desired outcomes.
