LaSalle 1 Bailey LaSalle Professor Kim Rich CMCN 212- 004 24 February 2023 Blog Assignment The topic I chose for this assignment is the theory of Multiple Intelligence and how it is beneficial in the classroom. There are eight different types of intelligence in the classroom including: musical- rhythmic, visual- spatial, verbal- linguistic, logical- mathematical, bodily- kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. I chose this topic because I intend to use this theory when teaching in my own classroom. This theory is important because it shows every type of way a child can learn, and caters to different strengths instead of the traditional, standard way of learning. Multiple intelligence theory helps students to see how information presented in certain ways can be helpful to them. My subtopics are: Musical/ Rhythmic intelligence, Visual/ Spatial, Verbal/ Linguistic, Logical/ Mathematical intelligence, Bodily/ Kinesthetic intelligence, Intrapersonal intelligence, Interpersonal intelligence, Naturalistic intelligence, How can these types of intelligence be used in classrooms? The cons of standardized testing How can we improve learning throughout the classroom. Making our lessons matter/ relate to everyday life. Characteristics of each type of intelligence. This blog could be helpful for any past or current teacher, school board member or any parent of the child this affects. I found a couple of blogs similar to the topic I want to address. “9 Types of Intelligence- Infographic”, and “Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences”.
LaSalle 2 Multiple intelligence is different for every individual, so there are not a lot of resources that cover every type of intelligence. There is also some overlap between types of intelligence that may be difficult to determine. A child may have many characteristics from several different types of intelligence. My blog will be different than these because it will cater to the current needs of the classroom and focus on helping children learn. This blog will be updated weekly on different ways to incorporate multiple intelligence in your classroom. I will include a section on how to cater to students with different educational needs. My blog will also have a chat box where you can message me suggestions or ask me questions that I can answer in future blogs. My blog will also have a quiz at the end to determine which type or types of intelligence you have. This helps Students to see how they may learn best. Having firsthand communication with readers will make my blog stand out compared to others. My name is Bailey LaSalle, and I am a 22-year-old senior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette majoring in Secondary English Education. I enjoy reading, writing, and volunteering. I have been volunteering teaching children since I was 12. I have been substitute teaching for 4 years and I hope to begin teaching in my own classroom in August. Spending years working with children of different ages and backgrounds has exposed me to many different types of learners. I would love to share my experiences with others who may need help in the classroom.
