Science of Reading- a sizable corpus of multidisciplinary, academically grounded research on reading and reading-related problems. Scarborough’s Reading Rope- There are two strands in the Reading Rope: upper and lower. With experience and repetition, the word identification threads of phonological awareness, decoding, and sight recognition of familiar words come together to make the reader more precise, proficient, and effortless. Phonics- A system of alphabetical writing that gives sounds to specific letters or groups of letters in reading training. Phonological awareness- The foundation for word reading, decoding, and blending is the understanding of and proficiency with spoken language sounds.

Reading instruction for young children requires that they first understand the mechanics of words. All words are composed of smaller sound units called phonemes, which they need to comprehend. The chance that a kid may experience reading difficulties in the future is highly connected with their early levels of phonological and phonemic awareness. Given that the sounds of written and spoken words are similar, studying phonology is essential to reading. To get from the written to the spoken word (reading) or from the spoken to the written word (listening), readers must understand the relationship between letters, letter combinations, and speech sounds (spelling) (Osborne et al., 2019). The ability to recognize phonemes is a good predictor of future spelling and reading comprehension. Children who are not as proficient readers as they could be are more likely to have poor phonological awareness than strong phonological awareness. Students need to have a basic understanding of how syllables work and how words sound in order to complete these tasks. Understanding the sounds that comprise each word is necessary if you want to combine sounds to get ready for reading and break words down into sounds to get ready for spelling. A range of exercises, games, songs, and nursery rhymes can be used to teach young children these ideas (Heggerty, 2020). Educators and parents can also use the Scarborough reading rope to ensure that their kids are taught all aspects of literacy. Hanson (2022) suggests that reading rope is a useful tool for teaching each strand in tandem with the others. An excellent example of the challenges involved in reading is Scarborough's rope. Two separate readings are shown on the Scarborough Reading Rope. levels.
Combining these attributes yields a reading that is accurate, fluid, and expressive. (also easily comprehended) (Kerns, 2021).
