U2L3: Culture and how it impacts Businesses. Cultural intelligence, or cultural quotient (CQ), is the ability to relate to others and interact effectively across cultures. Since large companies often operate on a global scale, employees adapt to the respective cultures of their peers. Your Task: In this assignment, you are to research and answer all of the following points and present your findings as a visual presentation (PowerPoint, google slides, Prezi,….) and submit it to your teacher. Be sure to connect each of the above to how it influences the culture in that country. 1. What is meant by the term Culture? 2. How do we learn about different cultures? 3. As management of a Canadian company doing business locally and internationally, why is knowing your cultural IQ valuable? 4. How does culture affect financial services? 5. Profile the culture of a country other than Canada and the USA. Discuss the following components of their culture: a. Religion b. Geography c. Demographics d. Climate e. Important holidays f. Food preferences g. Style of dress h. Language spoken i. Anything else you feel is important. 6. Is a high degree of cultural awareness of a foreign market necessary for a business that wants to expand globally? Why are why not. Once finished, upload your presentation to the U2L3 Dropbox.
