Multidisciplinary instruction is becoming more important in many learning environments.
The invisible lines that separate disciplines and content are dropping away as
communication has been opened through technology integration.
Use the prompts to guide an original response:
●
How do you see yourself as a potential or accomplished multidisciplinary instructor?
●
How do you or might you use technology to facilitate multidisciplinary instruction?
●
Give at least one specific example of what you do or might do to demonstrate
multidisciplinary instruction.
Within my school district, I find myself to be an accomplished multidisciplinary instructor to both
staff and students. I have not only taught in my profession as a world language teacher to
students using a curriculum and integration of modern resources, but additionally as an
unofficial technology specialist during and after the Pandemic. This was before our school
district had a media specialist, so it was especially critical. “For content creation tasks teachers
feel that the use of technology provides benefits as it facilitates the extension of the syllabus
content; enables the use of varied types of content; and saves them time as they are able to
reuse already existing online content.”( Sackstein, S., Spark, L., & Turner, B.2019) I have
provided professional development virtually and in person for staff while teaching students how
to utilize their technology in my classes. The way in which I use technology, especially during
the pandemic, consisted of tutorials recorded using "screencastify" and presentations created
via Google Slides. These were methods used to facilitate instruction in technology such as
Google Suites, Powerschool, and Flipgrid. This continues into my own profession of language
teaching where I teach students to use these programs in the same method to improve their
abilities in my class and apply them to their other academics.
