Abstract The report discusses the cloud migration plan for Don & Associates, a financial consulting firm, to address the limitations of its on-site data storage and retrieval systems that hinder expansion to larger companies. Moving to the cloud provides a cost-effective solution that can expand capabilities without physical space and costly physical infrastructure. The report proposes the adoption of AWS cloud, leveraging the AWS Shared Responsibility Model and core cloud services to create a resilient and fault-tolerant architecture that eliminates downtime, increases productivity, and maintains a high level of performance and availability. The report also emphasizes that customers' responsibility in securing their cloud resources is crucial to ensuring overall security and compliance of their cloud environment. Introduction Don & Associates is a financial consulting firm that is growing at a rapid rate. The company currently provides its services to small and medium companies and is looking to expand while implementing viable solutions to sustain the fast-paced organization. This project includes presenting the positive effects of cloud adoption to the company's management based on experiments. Don & Associates is committed to enhancing productivity through technology in the Northeast region while keeping costs low for added IT equipment, maintenance, and physical infrastructure upgrades. The company today employs 125 people, and top management and supervisors want a cost-effective service provider in order to successfully scale its IT requirements. Since businesses, including competitors, are gaining an edge in cloud computing, it is vital that the company also takes the lead in adopting modern computing standards (Melaku, 2018). With the activities and procedures that the company has explored in readiness for cloud adoption include first pilot phase, thorough assessment, data migration and capacity, and cloud makeover for max optimization.

Statement of Need Don & Associates is facing challenges in expanding its business to target larger companies due to the limitations of its on-site data storage and retrieval systems. The company is experiencing extended periods of downtime and slow retrieval speeds, and the cost of expanding its physical infrastructure is not feasible within its budgetary constraints. Moving to the cloud could help Don & Associates address these challenges and reap several benefits. Firstly, a cloud-based infrastructure can expand the company's capabilities without requiring physical space or costly physical infrastructure, making it a cost-optimized solution that fits within the company's budget. Secondly, the cloud offers the opportunity to design a resilient and fault-tolerant architecture that eliminates downtime and increases productivity. This means that the company can maintain a high level of performance and availability, which is crucial for expanding its business to larger companies. Overall, Don & Associates can benefit greatly from moving to the cloud by designing a cost- optimized and high-performing architecture that is also secure and resilient. By doing so, the company can overcome its current limitations and successfully target larger companies. Assumptions When designing the cloud architecture plan for Don & Associates, several assumptions were made to ensure the plan is feasible and effective. Firstly, it was assumed that the company has a need to expand its services by incorporating new solutions that provide innovative business solutions with a focus on analytics and financial solutions. This assumption is based on the fact that the company is targeting larger companies and needs to offer more sophisticated services to meet their demands. Secondly, it was assumed that AWS cloud would be the only cloud service utilized for the migration. This assumption is based on the idea that integrating multiple different infrastructures would be complex, time-consuming, and costly. By using AWS, the migration process can be streamlined, and the cloud architecture can be designed with a single infrastructure in mind, ensuring consistency and simplicity. It's important to note that while these assumptions were made, they were based on careful consideration of the company's needs, goals, and constraints. The assumptions were not arbitrary, but rather, they were made based on a thorough understanding of the company's requirements and the available cloud solutions in the market. By making these assumptions, the
cloud architecture plan can be tailored to meet the specific needs of Don & Associates, ensuring a successful migration to the cloud. Proposed AWS Infrastructure The company has previously invested in more equipment in an effort to scale and satisfy the rising demand. Software, applications, data, and information will be moved to the cloud by the business, nevertheless. Building a dependable and extremely secure cloud platform while keeping costs low was the aim when developing the suggested AWS infrastructure. Utilizing the vast array of tools and services that Amazon Web Services offers, this was made possible. With the proposed infrastructure, Don & Associates will be able to take on bigger clients with heavier workloads and still maintain a high level of performance on a worldwide scale. We will consider relocating the current codes and programs from the hard disk storage and recompiling them to run in a mainframe emulator found in the cloud instance because the company employs software that is crucial to their everyday operations. Similar migrations will be made for other apps. Technical Description This paper focuses on the cloud migration plan for Don & Associates, which aims to address the company's struggles in expanding its services due to issues with extended periods of downtime and slow retrieval speeds from their on-site data storage. The plan proposes the adoption of AWS cloud, leveraging the AWS Shared Responsibility Model and the use of core cloud services such as computing, networking, and storage. By implementing a resilient and fault-tolerant architecture, the cloud services can eliminate downtime and increase productivity. Moreover, by moving to the cloud, the company can expand its infrastructure without the need to pay for physical space, resulting in a cost-optimized model that fits within their budgetary constraints. The cloud services enable virtual hosting of software applications and data, increasing the amount of data that can be stored, and drastically improving data retrieval speeds. The highly reliable and efficient cloud applications offered by the services also provide a high level of
performance and security, ensuring operational excellence, and reliance on the computing services to retrieve and store data. The paper concludes that the customer's responsibility in securing their cloud resources is crucial in ensuring the overall security and compliance of their cloud environment. By understanding and adhering to the AWS Shared Responsibility Model, customers can take the necessary steps to protect their data, applications, and systems in the cloud. Cloud Security The separation of security duties between AWS and its clients is described in the AWS Shared Responsibility Model. According to this approach, customers are in charge of protecting their own data, apps, and operating systems while AWS is in charge of maintaining the security of the cloud infrastructure. Customers can make a significant difference in the security of their cloud resources. This entails setting up firewalls, creating network security groups, establishing strict authentication and access rules, and frequently patching and updating their operating system and software. Additionally, customers are in charge of keeping an eye on any potential security risks to their cloud resources and remediating them as necessary. Customers must also make sure that they are in compliance with legal obligations and industry norms including HIPAA or PCI DSS. They need to make sure that their security measures are routinely reviewed and tested, as well as that the proper paperwork is kept up to date. In conclusion, it is crucial for customers to take responsibility for protecting their cloud resources in order to guarantee the entire security and compliance of their cloud environment. Customers can take necessary security precautions to protect their data, apps, and systems in the cloud by comprehending and following the AWS Shared Responsibility Model. Conclusion In conclusion, Don & Associates is a fast-growing financial consulting firm that faces challenges in expanding its business to larger companies due to the limitations of its on-site data storage and retrieval systems. To address these issues, the company can move to the cloud, which can provide a cost-optimized and high-performing architecture that is also secure and resilient. The proposed AWS infrastructure plan utilizes a variety of tools and services offered by Amazon Web Services to relocate software, applications, data, and information to the cloud. By leveraging core cloud services such as computing, networking, and storage, the company can design a
