Paypal Project
Problem Statement - Financial was doing great at the beginning of the business journal. - A lot of customers trust that people would put their financial (private) information on Paypal - Currently laid off 7% of workforce - During pandemic had a huge growth (the trend of people are spending digitally) The growth is going much slow than before, what are drivers of the growth? - Relation with eBay end in 2014. Paypal is able to scaled up and heading to different branch in digital payment (merch outside eBay; P2P consumer) - Paypal as an individual play is able to serve other players in the player (benefit from splitting up) A lot of fintech innovation is centred and a lot of investment is going after this area ( increase of competition)
External analysis - Customer forced to rely on e-commerce more during pandemic - After the pandemic, a lot of stock owners sell the stock for a huge gain(the market is very focus on short- term gain) - The belief of e-commerce will grow (the highest was 16.4% of total sale in US market), however; this went down and stay under 15% for past 2 years. - Before the pandemic, the growth of e-commerce was 20~25%, now it’s only 10~15% - Pandemic makes people wanting to back to the face to face spending (people even go back to cash) - The idea of spending day to day with the under pressure of inflation - Some of large technology companies (Google/Apple) has their own payment methods - Banks are joining the digital wallet too - Gen Z and Millenials are increasingly using digital wallet as their primary bank account
